I spent 100 dollars to buy 7 pounds of flour and 8 pounds of sugar (I
own a bakery) yesterday. Last month I spent 30 dollars to buy 2 pounds
of flour and 4 pounds of sugar. But I do not know how much a pound of
each ingredient (x for flour, y for sugar) costs.
100=7x+8y, 30=2x+4y (60=4x+8y)
Solution: 40=3x, x=40/3 dollars/pound, y=(100-7 40/3)/8 d/p

What is the solution to this system....

If starlight left a galaxy ten billion years ago, how did we arrive out here ahead of that light to pick it up? The big bang must have taken place when we were already sitting out here on Earth.

There's is something I'm not getting.

But ten billion years ago there was no sun and no earth to orbit it. So how were those ten billion years measured?

Thanks,
Vince

The answer is 141 m/s. The equation used is t=v2d/g. I have a quiz this evening, and I can't seem to figure out how they arrived at the answer using this equation. (the book does not show the equation in action). 5 points to the first person who can show me how this is worked.
