In humans and other hemoglobin-using creatures, oxygenated blood is bright red. This is due to oxygenated iron in the red blood cells. Deoxygenated blood is a darker shade of red, which can be seen during blood donation and when venous blood samples are taken. However, due to an optical effect caused by the way in which light penetrates through the skin, veins typically appear blue in color. This has led to a common misconception that venous blood is blue before it is exposed to air. Another reason for this misconception is that medical charts always show venous blood as blue in order to distinguish it from arterial blood which is depicted as red on the same chart.

no it is a myth that the blood is green before it is exposed to oxygen.
but it is described as blue when it is exhausted of oxygen.

No, human blood is ALWAYS red. some of my peers had similar inquiries but i disproved them. because there is oxygen being carried through your blood at all times your blood is always in contact with Oxygen.

no, you can see this when the blood ruches to you cheeks when you are hot and thwy turn red. but there is a type of lizard with green blood.

I think its blue because its deoxygenated blood. Thats how you go blue if you dont get enough oxygen :p ..xx

if i remember correctly, it's blue.
it turns red when the iron in your blood mixes with oxygen.

ive heard that is was blue but thats not true its always red!! lol it look green (the veins) but its to due with ya skin and tissue over the veins!! GOOD QUESTION THOUGH!!

the red color of blood is due to the color of red blood corpuscles
(R.B.C) which is red color ,these R.B.C. represent more than 90 percent of the total blood corpuscles.
