ok i like chemistry but im still bad at it because of a teacher who expects us to know the basics and teaches at an way too advanced level.
now the test is on bonding and i really cant draw the stuff like VSEPR theory and i hope i wrotte the acronym right
like lewis dot i never know if i've got it right and expecially drawing all the bonds.....can anyone explain to me in english so that a dumb person can understand how to draw this stuff and other things is shuld know related to bonding? i don't know this is the first thing thats so hard for me. i feel stupid already so if you're gonna stop by to make me feel even more stupid then dont...only if you have knowledge about chem that you are willing to share in an understandable manner

thanks in advance.

I emailed the author of lightandmatter.com regarding his textbook Simple Nature. This is an excerpt of my email

""I have an objection to your statement on page 38 bottom paragraph. In reference to the kinetic energy theorom, KE=1/2mv^2 , you state that "what about the factor of 1/2 in front? It comes out to exactly 1/2 by the design of the metric system."

That statement is not accurate since the Kinetic energy equation is fundamentally idependent of the unit system used. Whether we were to use the old english system, the metric system, or any other system the 1/2 would still be required for the equation to hold. I believe you meant that if you were to covert the old English sysetm to the metric system the factor that you stated is required.""

He replied by stating that 1/2 was indeed arbitrary.

Now I know He is 100X smarter than me so if any of you hit his page and read his section of the book tell me What am I getting wrong. Difference of semanantics? What am I missing?

If the sum of a number of parameters (x) equals (y).
What is the equation that provides me with the number of combinations of values for each parameter of x?

e.g. x = 2 and y = 10
So we have 2 parameters that when added together give 10.
How many sets of numbers are valid for this?
The answer here is 11 - but what is a generic equation?
(0,10; 1,9; 2,8; 3,7; 4,6; 5,5; 6,4; 7,3; 8,2; 9,1; 10,0)

I was ousite, it was a beautiful night and i was looking at the stars. Suddenly i saw in the sky like a perfect triagle shape, black (the sky is dark dark blue at night, but not black)and moving very slowly. If I called someone to see it, i was afraid of missing it, so i decided to keep on watching. No noise at all, no lights. From where I was, it had the size of walnut (triangular) I can tell it was not that far from the ground. When it was passing above me, from the ground I could see three circules inside the triangular base that were lighter than black. I saw it for 30 seconds approximately, moving slowly. What do you think it was? I dont think it was an UFO but I have tried to search on the internet for some plane with those characteristics and i couldnt find any. It was like 8 years ago.
