My friend was telling me the conjecture is based on what we think rock and metal under pressure would do, and the theory of liquid parts inside is confirmed by certain waves set up by earth quakes where some can pass through solid but not liquid or vice versa. My question is, how do we know the liquid that's interupting the wave or slowing it down or whatever is the liquid rock, and not the underground reservoirs wells are dug into?

I have no science background so use every day terms to explain jargon, please. Thanks.

I also heard that the quote has been changed over the years to say this, " The earth is blue, but there is no god. "

My girlfriend and I were watching Crimson Tide the other day, and it was rather hokey. We found ourselves disagreeing on the main argument of the film: do you launch a pre-emptive nucelar strike on other nuclear bombs if you were told to, but might have had the order recinded?

My girlfriend was of the opinion that you don't, because if a nuclear warhead destroyed the other nukes, they too would detonate. I was under the impression that unless the warheads were specifically triggered and the fusion/fisson process begun, exploding a nuclear warhead would cause no detonation. In which case, you could use a small, localised warhead to destroy all the bombs, and everyone is happy.

What happens when you destroy a nuclear weapon in such a manner?

I'd love to see a proof of it by induction (if it's even possible). I gave it a try and got nowhere.

I noticed this spider descending from the second story of a house I was working on in Beaumont, Texas last August. It is brown, slightly hairy and about the size of a silver dollar. The most distinguishing feature is the white skull on its abdomen! Yup, this spider is so bad@ss it has a skull on it...but what kind of spider is it? I have a pic of it at

Seriously, if global warming is real, and the weather is getting warmer and warmer, how will animals know when to hibernate. I live in NY, NY, its December 27, we haven't seen any snow, yet squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits (i live in the burbs) can still be seen. Is hibernation a necessary proccess for these animals? How is global warming affecting them?

i have to do a project on strong and weak bases and i we have to do a demo for it and our demo was gonna be to show an example of a strong base and a weak base so it'd help if you could give me like a common compound that's a strong base and a common compound that's a weak base.

AND also if you have any other ideas on a different demo for strong and weak bases feel free to share your thoughts.

thank you very much for your time.
