Three salesmen goes to Las Vegas. They arrive at the hotel and each of them has to pay $10 each for the night. Later the manager comes by and says they have a special going on this weekend. He told the receptionist to take $5 and devide it between the three salesmen, they paid too much. The receptionist then goes to give them the $5 and thought "It's too difficult to devide $5 between three, I'm gonna keep $2 and give them each $1 back". If he gives back each salesman $1, hom much did each pay for the night? What is the total of the three all together? Now plus the $2 the receptionist kept? What happened to the other dollar?

At an accident scene on a level road, investigators measure a car's skid mark to be 88m long. THe accident occurred on a rainy day, and the coefficient of kinetic friction was estimated to be 0.42. Use these data to determine the speed of the car when the driver slammed on (and locked) the breaks. (Why does the car's mass not matter?)

I'm doing a science fair at school, and i need ideas. I'm in seventh grade honors courses, so an 8th grade-level project would be totally perfect. I don't need guidelines or instructions or anything, just the ideas. If anyone has anything like this, I'd love it if you'd share it with me!!!

Suppose that X is an uncountable set and d is any metric on X
which produces the discrete topology.
(such a metric d does not have to be a constant multiple of the discrete unit metric!)
Show that for some e>0 there is an uncountable subset A of X
such that d(x,y)>=e for all x,y in A.

Check my answer, also check sig figs.

Determine the mass of sodium carbonate decahydrate necessary to make 500.00 mL of a solution with a pH = 11.50.

first we change pH to [H+] 10^-11.50= 3.16x10^-12 this is the molarity to get the mols we multiply this by the volume in liters so,

3.16x10^-12 x .500L = 1.58x10^-12 mol

now to get the pass we take the mol and multiply by the molar mass. the formula is Na2CO3 * 10H20

Im not sure if you add the 10H20 but I did, can anyone tell me?

1.58x10^-12 * 285 = 4.52 x 10^-10g is the mass

Soon all lighting house and street will be by LEDs which is much more controlable. My idea is the light unit has a sensor so the light is only on if the room is occupied or a person or car is in that section of the road. Not only are LEDs more effective but this plan would save a great deal of energy
