What do you mean by bare diameter? The glass itself is usually 125µm (.0049") diameter, but you never see bare glass except at connectors and splices. The light-carrying core is 5-10µm for single mode and 50-110µm for multimode fiber. The buffer and jacket diameters vary considerably depending on the type of fiber and the cable construction.
