The most rudimentary multicellular organisms are small colonies of single-celled organisms that co-operate to the extent that they behave as a single creature (e.g. Volvox). How do these organisms stick together so that they may accomplish this?

I've got an A level exam in a month and I need help.

The curriculum sheet for my course says I need to know the following:

"recognise and solve equations in x which are quadratic in some form of x, eg. x^4 - 5x^2 + 4 = 0."

I'm working from memory as I can't find a book that covers the subject. I seem to remember having to substitute in: " z = x^2 ".

I can do that and then solve for z (as with a normal quadratic) and I get : z = 4, z = 1.

It's here where i get stuck.

Do I now let z = 4, therefore x = (plus or minus)sqrt 4 and
let z = 1, therefore x = (plus or minus)sqrt 1

This gives me 4 answers, which must be wrong!

Help!

With Countries pumping Oil from the Earth will the Countries themselves not collapse and fill with OceanWater? If this happens, the landscape of the earth will change drastically.
Along with this change would be the possiblilty that the Earths Weight Distribution would be compromised possibly shifting the Equator as it moves the earth.. Is this scenerio possible? If so, what can we do about it?

If you don't believe me the joke is on you! Ha ha ha! Aliens want to help people. They are perfect in every way. They are made up of pure light. They want us to succeed.
