An Ammeter is an instrument to measure a CURRENT in a line.
So you cut the line and insert the ammeter to read it, hence, SERIEs.
(By opposition, a Voltmeter measure the voltage BETWEEN two wires, hence, in parallel...)

It is the best way to connect thre ammeter in series always to measure mesure the current.. but it need not be in series..and also connected in series also have errors and u have to make some more adjustments and taking care of resistance how much u have to keep .. and the way u apple Voltage and measure

because in order to measure current you must put it in series so the current will flow thru the ammeter and you can then measure it
