I went to another person's house one day and noticed that the ants there seem a lot blacker than the ones at mine.

Another thing: I've also noticed a difference between the ants at my house which is that some have a lighter "end"--that last circle is a clearish dark brownish color--while the rest are just a normal black.

What causes these color changes?

And yes, I know I must have a lot of time on my hands to observe these things, haha.

Tonight I was watching a Katrina documentary and started getting very nervous and then started crying a lot,not sobbing(that was the first week after) just steady crying even after I turned it off, I thank God my whole family made it, my best friends son did not & she could not even get in touch with me till after the funeral. I know many people who can not handle these shows either, is something wrong with us or is this normal. If we would not have been prepared I do not know where we would have gotten help,we were cut off from the world. Although I have never been more proud of MS because we pulled together, why can I not watch, it seems we try to act if life is still the same. It has changed, crime far exceeds what we have ever seen, more people want hand outs with many jobs avalible, police are quiting, we can not go out at night without getting robbed, murdered, & rape is rampant, not all but a lot of the new people are mean, and our officials tell us everything is the same!

1. Find the prodct:
(0.0028x + 0.38)(0.4x + 0.46)

2. The polynomial function I(t) = -.1t^2 + 1.9t represents the yearly income (or loss) from a real estate investment, where t is time in years. After what year does incomebegin to decline?

Year 19, Year 8.5, Year 9.5, or Year 12.67 ?????

3. Add or subtract as indicated:
(5x^5 + 2x^7 - 7+4x^6) - (9 - 9x^6 + 7x^7 -7x^5)

I would greatly appreciate some help with these because I'm totally stumped.

I hate just asking the same questions from the assignment, but time's running out and I've never done anything like this before, so I know if I try to work through it and ask specific questions I'll get nowhere, but if I ask hopefully someone can explain. So:

The random variable X measures the concentration of ethanol in a chemical solution, and the random variable Y measures the acidity. They have a joint probability density function f(x,y) = A(20 – x – 2y) for 0<=x<=5 and 0<=y<=5 and f(x,y)=0 elsewhere.
A)What is the value of A?
B)What is P(1<=X<=2, 2<=Y<=3)?
C)Construct the marginal probability density functions fX(x) and fY(y)
D)Are the ethanol concentration and the acidity independent?
E)What are the expectation and the variance of the ethanal concentration?
F)What are the expectation and variance of the acidity?
G)If the ethanol concentration is 3, what is the conditional probability density function of the acidity?

Explanations, not just answers, please.

One of the steps in the commercial process for converting ammonia to nitric acid is the conversion of NH3 to NO.

4 NH3(g) + 5 O2(g) 4 NO(g) + 6 H2O(g)

In a certain experiment, 4.70 g of NH3 reacts with 5.83 g of O2.

Which is the limiting reactant? The answer is O2

How many grams of NO form? The answer is 4.37

How many grams of the excess reactant remains after the limiting reactant is completely consumed? THIS IS MY QUESTION. 4 was my original answer, but my teacher said it was wrong.

According to popular belief man landed on the moon in 1969. Setting aside various problems with the official version of events let me ask a simple, scientific question. Given the state of scientific knowledge in 1969 (which knew little of the huge effect of radiation that exists within the Van Allen belt circling the earth) how does one explain the fact that (1) when questioned the astronauts said they barely noticed passing throught it and (2) no provision whatsoever was made to protect the astronauts from the deadly concentrations of radiation they would have met if they really did travel to the moon. Let us have some real answers this time and not just fudge on this issue. The facts simply do not suggest that these astronauts would have survived travelling through this huge and deadly belt of radiation.

An airplane is flying at a speed of 340 mi/h at an altitude of one mile and passes directly over a radar station at time t = 0.

There are 3 parts to this question. I found the first part but need the second two.

(a) Express the horizontal distance d (in miles) that the plane has flown as a function of t.
d(t) = 340t

(b) Express the distance s between the plane and the radar station as a function of d.
s(d) = ???

(c) Use composition to express s as a function of t.
s(t) = ???
