I think that we are ants on this dirt hill of a planet overly concerned with trivial matters that will ultimately make no difference at all in the grand scheme of the universe. That Earth is but one planet in an endless universe full of endless galaxies with endless planets.

It depends on what kind of mood I am, here are some things that have, or could pop into my mind:
1. WOW! Its amazing
2. Wow! It is incredible to think about how many people through time/history have looked at these same stars. I wonder if someone living during the 1500's looked at this exact star (just an example of possible century)
3. God isREAL good.....what a great gift
4. Where does it end? What is beyond?
5. My head will start to hurt if I start to think about how small earth is compared to the rest of the universe.....and then start to wonder or comprehend how big our galaxy is.....so let me go back to admiring the beauty.
6. I wonder if someone is looking at this star
7. How beautiful
8.I wish I remembered to look up more
9. I really want to see a shooting star
10. Hmm....lets see if we can see the man in the moon.....
11. Where is the big dipper? What about the little one?
12. Whoa....I see a group of stars....whoa there is another group....(and as my eyes adjust and focus)....WOW
13. Peace, connectedness, and freedom

I think about a very special, and very lovely, Astrophysicist whom I will never see again because she was visiting some relatives in Mumbai (what used to be Bombay) on July 11'th. And she ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. I think about the last time she was here and stayed with me. I think about the way our 'pillow talk' turned technical so often that I ended up hanging a 6 foot dry marker board in the bedroom. And all of the other little 'intimicies' that make a relationship so special after a couple of years.
And I miss her.

As I lay in my bed the other night looking up at the beautiful canopy of stars spanning our Milky Way Galaxy, spread by the hand of God across the sky and into eternity beyond, it suddenly occurred to me, ... where the hell did the ceiling go?

I think if I will ever be lucky enough to know what hides in each and every corner of the night sky at all possible distances from earth within my life time !
Then I wonder if I will ever be able to know for certain as to how it all began !
And then I begin to wonder if I will ever be able to know why it all began!

Man, it's late, I really gotta go to bed! (that's tonights thought, anyway!!)
Sometimes, I think about the astronauts up there, circling the earth. And the other people who have been up there and what they saw looking down on us.
How short a time we have on this planet, how small we are in the big universe.
And a few other things, but really, I gotta go to bed! (nearly 1am here.)

I wonder about intelligent life - whether or not there might be anything looking back at me - and whether or not the universe itself could be described as a time machine. Some of the stars after all, took centuries to send their light to me.

"you are a fluke of the Universe, far less than the trees and the stars, and whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the Universe would get along just fine without you."

This is what I always think about:
Timon: They're fireflies. Fireflies that uh... got stuck up
in that big... bluish-black... thing.
Pumbaa: Oh. Gee. I always thought that they were balls of
gas burning billions of miles away.
