I went to another person's house one day and noticed that the ants there seem a lot blacker than the ones at mine.

Another thing: I've also noticed a difference between the ants at my house which is that some have a lighter "end"--that last circle is a clearish dark brownish color--while the rest are just a normal black.

What causes these color changes?

And yes, I know I must have a lot of time on my hands to observe these things, haha.
