Scientists have speculated on Time travel for a pretty long time,
Can a time machine be created.
Can the present be altered by changing the past
(the scientists have invented the supercollider ,but that only affects particles and cannot aid Humans in time travel)

Many years ago, even as late as the 1940's and 1950's, people used to think that breaking the sound barrier would have some dire or extreme consequenses such as traveling through time, or causing some catastrophic event. It was also widely believed that breaking the sound barrier would be impossible.

Today, it seems that a lot of both scientists and laypeople believe some similar things about the speed of light! Do you think that 50 or 100 years from now if/when we break the "light barrier" that people will look back and laugh about what we believed to be true?

He wonders whether to run back in the direction he came from (which is towards the approaching train), or forwards to the end of the tunnel. What he doesn't know is that in each case, running at a constant speed of 18mph, he will reach the respective mouth of the tunnel at the exact same time as the train does. What is the speed of the train ?

If not, how large would a man made object be (assuming the albedo (sp?) of the space station). My assumption is that low orbit objects should be easier to spot since they are close and would therefore reflect more light to the observer (assuming a sort of inverse square law application to reflection, which I'm not sure is accurate, but does seem to be a good starting point).

Where I live we never have tornadoes, yet we've had three warnings and two touch downs in the last two months. We now have the most amazing thunder and lightening storms too. Last week we had baseball sized hail. Not to mention the weather elsewhere in the world - there are more earthquakes, tsunamis, excessive heat, flooding, etc. What's going on?

In older textbooks, the Pennsylvanian age sedimentary rocks of the “Coal Measures” in WV were spoken of as reflecting the Cyclothems of the coal deposits in the Illinois Basin. The brief pattern would include a marine limestone at the base (identified by the presence of marine invertebrate fossils) other sedimentary rocks, then a coal bed, then other sedimentary rocks on top of the coal and finally another marine limestone. What does this sedimentary sequence suggest to you as to the sedimentary environments through time which led to the preservation of this sequence of rocks?
