Like all mammals, cows can only produce milk after they have had a baby and after the calf is weaned, the mother cow still makes milk and is usually milked for 305 days (10 months) after giving birth. Most cows are milked for about 7 years even.
Most milk nowadays is extracted from cows that are kept producing milk with the help of hormones, long after they need it for their calves. There is a lot of criticism regarding this and I wonder if it is safe to drink it while it is alive, let alone dead.
A cow calf tugs at the udder ( where the milk is stored) to feed - this tugging sends a signal to the cow's brain to let her milk down, this is one of the reason farmers wash the udder/teats of the cow before milking. So, you can't get a brain signal from a dead cow!
Regarding milking a dead cow- this is a strange question especially when you ask how many days/months too-the body would be decayed anyway and a threat to health !!

Probably not for long since the inside organs will spoil very quickly after the cow's death. I don't think I'd like to milk a dead cow though.

Now why would you want to milk a dead cow? Desperate for milk? Go to your friendly Super Market.

Yes, but only once. But it has to be done when the cow has just died because the body heat will sour the milk . When they die milk production stops.

I tried to look this up and couldn't find any material on it, but I tend to agree with 'deshawn_93' (scroll below)
if it's a freshly killed or 'newly' dead (hopefully not from a disease), you can cut up the udder carefully and collect the remaining milk that way i suppose, careful not to have the blood mix and properly boil the milk before consumption--this of course if the circumstance is desperate (just please go to your local supermarket otherwise)
reminds me of the end of 'grapes of wrath'

Sounds like you need a new cow. Bad! Don't put it off another day. Go get one, I'll watch stuff here until you get back.
