I know TV shows make it look really fast..for the sake of the show's timeline, but I've read in the news where it takes several weeks to complete, yet recently the military claimed to complete DNA identification on soldiers from Iraq in a couple of days.

They say that 2004 XP14 will miss the Earth by the approximate distance from here to the moon. Would this asteroid create some catastrophic effect if it struck the moon?

Please do not copy and paste Wikipedia's Definition of:

"The term halogen was coined to mean elements which produce salt in union with a metal. It comes from 18th century scientific French nomenclature based on erring adaptations of Greek roots."

...because that explaination didn't sufficiently explain how the world "halogen" came about. Thanks much in advance!

I know that it's caused by solar flares and whatnot but how often? Does it come regularly, like, can they predict it or is it just random?

Are the rocks and dust in the ring stationary or do they orbit the planet? If they do, then aren't they technically satelites or is there a minimum size that an object should be before it could be classified as a satelite? If so, why do we call the small satelites we send to space satelites?

Ever since I read "Journey to the center of the Earth" by Jules Verne about 13 years ago, I somehow believed the Earth isn't entirely solid and that life might exist in the interior. I also believe that everything in this universe are linked, such as the double helix DNA spiral to the galactical spirals. Is it possible that planets could be like a huge atom with a central core and free ranging nuclei matter? I know I'm a bit crazy, but how do we know for certain the Earth is NOT hollow? The deepest mine in the world doesn't even scratch the Earth's crust and I doubt that we can scan the Earth as deep as to the core. Isn't the assumed fact that the Earth is solid, not also just a theory until we can prove it?
