consider "enemies," and used the big stick of US military power but also actually give them a chance to talk about our mutual long-term goals etc. in a respectful man-to-man (or woman?) way.

You never know what good might come from even just one of these meetings, worst case we just blow the crap out of them like we would anyway.

Hillary not only voted for war in Iraq before there was any evidence that they had illegal weapons, but she helped the Bush administration push the fear machine in speech after speech. If she wins what is the difference?

Fascism rejects the liberal doctrines of individual autonomy and rights, political pluralism, and representative government, yet it advocates broad popular participation in politics and may use parliamentary channels in its drive to power. Its vision of a "new order" clashes with the conservative attachment to tradition-based institutions and hierarchies, yet fascism often romanticizes the past as inspiration for national rebirth.

"Many conservatives insist that the Nazis were an example of a 'socialist' government as part of their effort to discredit socialism and leftist policies in general. This is rather like using the example of East Germany, the German Democratic Republic, to discredit democracy: it demonstrates the speaker's inability to comprehend reality."
Fascism is not a form of socialism.

Tell me that this doesn't sound like the Conservative ideology.

-Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.
- Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
- Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
- Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion.
-Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

Pakistan is a country whose democratic and civilized traditions are being gradually eroded by militarists and religious fundamentalists that will eventually destroy the country and endanger the whole world.

Rather than killing hundreds of thousands of people in Afghanistan and Iraq, shouldn't Clinton and Bush have withdrawn all support for the Musharraf dictatorship immediately, and instead focused on building stronger democratic institutions and real economic and social development?

In the 2008 Prez primaries. I'm talking a serious test/quiz on the internet somewhere that'll let me know which party I am and which one to vote for. Candidates by issues would be cool.

It seems the media likes to get people angry about politics being presented impurely.

However they seem to ignore that, while a lot of politicians present their platform in an honest fashion, the platform itself is quite dishonest.

I mean what's worse, presenting the truth in an artificial manner or presenting utter crap in an "honest" and "open" way?

Islam vs. Free Speech by Jed Babbin
http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=24176

Under assault by Muslims and multiculturalists, free speech and freedom of the press are dead in Britain. The same sorts of people who killed them in Britain are killing them in Canada. They and their allies are using the British and Canadian courts and tribunals to bury our First Amendment rights in America.
Muslims -- individually and in pressure groups -- are using British libel laws and Canadian "human rights" laws to limit what is said about Islam, terrorists and the people in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere who are funding groups such as al-Queda. The cases of Rachel Ehrenfeld and Mark Steyn prove the point.

Bush keeps touting that the extra money for the TROOPS...yet, our soldiers have already been paid as well as their equipment...sure some of the equipment needs upkeep, but not $70,000,000 every 2 or 3 months!

So, where is all this money going to? If it is the Contractors then, we as Americans should KNOW about this, after all it IS our money.

In civilized countries like Australia and UK, you become a pariah to your people and are kicked out of office....

In less discerning nations... you lose your life......

Roll on Nov '08, so we can get back to when being a friend of America was an asset and not a curse

When you are forced to give 50%+ your hard earned money, when you no longer own your own property, when government has incredible search, seizure and arrest powers. When you can be involuntarily committed just for political incorrectness, that doesn't sound like freedom to me.

I guess Americans would rather live in captivity than fend for themselves.
