Every Democrat running for President wants to raise taxes on "the rich," but they will have to do something miraculous to outtax President Bush. Based on the latest available tax data, no Administration in modern history has done more to pry tax revenue from the wealthy.

Last week the Congressional Budget Office joined the IRS in releasing tax numbers for 2005, and part of the news is that the richest 1% paid about 39% of all income taxes that year. The richest 5% paid a tad less than 60%, and the richest 10% paid 70%.

Does this seem fair to you??..or should those evil rich folks pay even more??...

Why do lib answers show up near the top of the list? And the fuerther down you read, you get the more conservative or traditionalist point of view.
Do cons have a longer attention span?
Are they more thoughtful and less knee-jerk in their reasoning?
Do libs just mouth what their professors put in their heads?
Or are they just lazy and don't read that far down the list?
You opinions please!
No lib diatribes allowed.
No spin.
And especially no bloviating...thats my job!

i call myself a conservative constitutionalist, because i believe in the constitution as written not interpreted to say what you want it to say. i also believe in personal responsability and that you should pay your own way in life not relie on the government to bail you out of your bad decisions

Working for the common goal of making life enjoyable for ALL our citizens?
One of the greatest American industrialists Henry Ford understood these principles. That is why he started paying his employees $5 a day........an unheard of wage at the time........ Because he understood that he needed a prosperous middle classes to continue selling his cars!

Another extremely wealthy man J. paul Getty once wrote "Labor is intitled to its fair share of the profits"....... and he actually believed the unions made life better for ALL Americans!

Repubs try to make the top earners the foundation for growth (trickle down). Dems concentrate on making the bottom and mid income earners the foundation (bottom up).

Am I wrong with this hypothesis?

More of J Edgar Hoover's papers were released this week-it discussed Hoover's plan to jail 12,000 Americans that Hoover had spent years compiling. No cause would have been needed, Hoover had plans for prisons and military bases to be used to house the American citizens. The only trials the American citizens were going to be eligible for was by a military person and two civilians. The US President at the time refused to institute the plan, even though we were just getting involved in the Korean war.

Could this happen again, but this time, US citizens would be arrested, held indefinitely, with limited access to trial? Why or why not?

Okay, I have heard a lot of Democrats say that Bush should have let Blix and the weapons inspectors do their job in Iraq. My question is how exactly? They were being banned from going to any recent sites and being told when and where to go. How could they find WMDs that way, or anything else incriminating for that matter. Any thoughts?

That's tyranny not republic or democracy.

Joseph Smith was such an admirable and amazing religious leader, it's a shame that we don't have the same kind of people in politics today. If everyone in our political system were more like Joseph Smith, I can guarantee you that the U.S. would be virtually problem-free. Think about it, his colony was an utopia to live in and so would our country if we could eliminate jokes like Barack Obama and impeach our current President George Bush who seems to be a little too interested in the Middle East for my taste, and get real men like Joseph Smith in office. Then we'll be living the good life.

What do you think?

Should we realize the truth that this man is a tax raising, illegal immigrant loving murder/rapist pardoning individual who obviously puts his personal beliefs in front of policy

I like the fair tax too, but not enough to want to vote for Huckabee, I feel he plays the God card too much and social conservatives will try and take a coup of the Republican party. The party also belongs to the fiscally responsible/libertarian side, don't let Huckabee get the nomination, the dems think he will be easy to beat!!
