...I am a man and here is my two cents worth.
...I am rather tired of hearing all this screaming for equal rights for women - when really it is selective on their part.
......My mother is pro-women in everything, until it is time to hang a picture in her living room; she says "that's a man's job."
...There are areas where equal rights for men and women do not exist; sometimes they should not.
...Pretty women are chosen over the not-so-pretty, in positions like news anchors, and in fact these women allow themselves to be exploited, since it benefits them. It is a different ballgame when it benefits them.
...I guess if you are female, rotund, and not too good looking, radio is your best bet for media work.
...This next part does not speak well for Fox NN at all. I watch FNN from time to time and notice their women (most of whom are good looking), at least on the talk shows, wear very short skirts like Megyn Kendall who I think is recently married, and how her husband can let her parade around dressed like that is beyond me; and she is not the only one. There are other improperly dressed females on there. These women ought to put proper clothes on and be respectful journalists, and concentrate on a fine day's work, rather than showing off their flesh and wearing tight sweaters..
...Although I do not agree with her politics, at least Katie Couric is modestly dressed on the CBS Evening News.
...Women want to play men's sports but not share locker rooms (I don't think they should, but this shows they don't really want equal rights).
...Women want to be sports analysts and enter men's locker rooms like it was normal, and then get there feelings hurt if they are verbally abused - but try putting men in women's lockers rooms and listen for the whining and complaining. See how well that plays out.
...In scouting, girls have demanded to be in boy scouts, but send some rowdy boys over to a girl scout troop to tear things up, and see who cries foul.
...Women demand entry in men only clubs, but turn it around, and would they give entry to men in some place like "La Leche League"?
...I love our military men and women, and have great respect for them (and I work with Army soldiers every day). When it comes to the military, it has been proven over and over that women are much less physically able to serve, at least in combat. Great Britain gave up on having women in combat years ago, so far as I know, because it was not working. I believe they are better suited in non-combat positions, like being a military nurse, since women are natural nurturers - this is how God designed them.
...If women soldiers are captured, then they are subject to all kinds of abuse that male soldiers could not suffer.
...My whole point is this - women and men ought to give up these "fantasy-land/Disneyland" ideas about equal rights, and that man and women are no different. I really believe we ought to see how God created them and how He designed them. Let's consider how God designed men and women, and put them in positions according to that, and according to merit and character, Let's not do what is currently in vogue. And let's forget being politically correct, and do what is best for the country.
...Last to women and men - dress modestly, so that it shows off your face.
...Women - stop letting yourself be exploited, and believe me you are. The networks are making sex objects out of you.

When the government has an equal amount of women in the top jobs as there are men - I will agree with this. Until then I will continue to believe that women are in no way responsible for any of the wars that happen in this world. So why then should they be forced to fight for something they had no part in creating?
If you want to "allow" women equal rights to fight, then they should be equal in ALL of the other areas too. :-)

Equal rights is fine and I'm all for it. However we have to be realistic. Generally speaking men are physically stronger better suited to the rigors of the infantry than are women. Obviously there are exceptions. In order for a woman to join the infantry she would have to demonstrate that she was physically as capable of doing the job as the average male.

Did you sleep through the Iraq war? Although officially, women were religated to non-frontline activities, there was no front line, and many a woman found herself in combat.
The notion of fighting being a man's job comes from olden times, and has a practical basis. One man can impregnate multiple women and further a society, but loose your women, and have excess men doesn't really help you rebuild your culture. Therefore, men are more expendable.
I'm all for equal rights and if a woman wants to be in one of these more dangerous positions, I say let her. But the powers that be know that the men of the unit will be more protective of the women. They would take bigger chances to rescue them, even when it would cost more lives than you save, etc. It's not women who are the problem here, it is the men and how they react to the women.
Women should have equal rights, but the sad fact is, until men (their fellow soldiers) really do think of them as equals, and not someone to be protected (any more than any other soldier), then their being on the front lines will alter the face of combat in ways that cannot be controlled or predicted by the upper ranks. Therefore, they are unwilling to change.

I retired after thirty years in law enforcement. I never won a fight with a woman. Verbal, physical or lawyers. The smaller and drunker they are, the harder they are to fight. Just don't laugh when they get mad. They'll slap that silly grin off your face in a nano second. A battalion of short drunk women could whip any standing army the world has to offer.

i agree, if women want equal rights then they should get equal responsibilities. you can become president and general of the army but you aren't forced to signup for selective service? - hey i have nothing against women and equal rights but that just doesn't seem fair.

Women are not capable of doing the same job physically as a man. We can't run as fast, can't lift or carry as much, aren't physically as strong, and tend cry under stress. Militarily we aren't as capable as a man.
Would you want Gwen Stefani or Britney Spears to be drafted? Wouldn't that be one for the books?
But so what - Does that mean you want to take away our rights because of that?
I think that's EXACTLY what you mean. I think you need a good old fashioned spanking, over your mother's knee.
That is, if you ever HAD a mother!

As a woman - for years I have wanted an end to limiting where a woman may serve in the military. Seems like it's the men who don't want them in there.

I think if women want equal rights, they should have to deal with equality in all senses of the word. Like all that double standard stuff should disappear. For example guys shouldn't have to pay for meals anymore or hold doors open for women, if everyones equal.

well before they can start being in the infantry they have to start having the same physical requirements. right now they are required to do less pushups, less pull ups, and have longer times for their mile run. they also don't have to shave their heads. they also don't have to sign up for the draft.
