No, but you shouldn't have gone to a military school if you weren't prepared for that eventuality.

Going to a Military Academy and then not wanting to face your countries enemies in combat seems very unlikely. Sort of like someone going to Medical School, then advanced surgical studies and an internship and then deciding they are afraid of disease. I have met many a Military Academy graduate and you are the first I have seen that expresses cowardice.
Most people training for Military leadership roles figure out that this is a dangerous way to make a living long before graduation, assuming you graduated (you only state that you went to a military academy). Most come away with a far better sense of dedication to their military brothers and sisters. Most have a far greater concern that they will not live up to the code than worry about being injured.
A hero dies but once. A coward dies a thousand times.
Merry Christmas!

I'm guessing that you went to a military school versus one of the service academies...they do a thorough job of screening the applicants.
Its normal to be scared. I don't want to go to Iraq either. I would prefer not to be blown up or shot or whatever. However, if you signed up you are obligated to follow through on your promises.
I'm not sure I could vote for somebody like you.

The United States has a VOLUNTEER military force--you don't go unless you join and even then the chances are low at this time. Not everyone fights---there are more behind the scenes feeding troops and fixing equipment, driving trucks, doing medical chores----and why are you afraid to even enlist and do YOUR share for the country that has done so much for you. We wouldn't have anything at all if it weren't for those who fought in other wars--insured our freedoms---allowed you and everyone else to have a great opportunity to enjoy life. Please do NOT ever use the words--COWARD or SCARED--there are people who take offense to the thought of COWARDS and SCARDIECATS. I fought in NAM--I made it home--more people get killed by drunk drivers and stupid driving accidents than wars ever did. Stand up and do your share and stop whining. You can have some assh--e with a gun kill you outside of your house--aren't you scared to go out?? Best of luck to you and I hope you see what I am saying.

You may not be a coward (honestly, how many people WANT to go to Iraq), but you certainly are a draft dodger. You knew the terms of engagement when you signed the contract and took the free education, you have to realize it came with strings attached!

No one wants to go to Iraq, but we do, because it's our job. If you were afraid to deploy, you shouldn't have gone to a military academy. Don't become the next LT Watada.

A question. Do you plan to oppose (as a politician) sending our troops into combat unless there is valid and necessary reason and then only after all other options are exhausted?
If so, fine. Given the immoral and unjustified nature of the Iraq war, no one has any moral obligation to go, whatever their personal reasons for not wanting to.
If, on the other hand, you don't plan to follow the position I stated--you have no business seeking public office. If you aren't willing t to serve, you have no moral right to ask others to do so--now or ever. No sane person WANTS to go somewhere where people will try to kill you. But don't plan on a career that will put you in a position of authority over those who are willing to accept those risks.
Of course, you'd still fit in well with the neoconservative chickenhawks like Bush! LOL

Didn't you enter the military academy knowing there was the possibility of going to Iraq? I understand you're are scared....who wouldn't be, but you signed up to serve your Country, so go and be proud to do so. Those of us here who aren't Liberal wackos will support you, and pray for you! Best of luck.

Which academy, one of the Military academies , or a prep school with an ROTC program.
if you went to a military academy, such as West Point , then you have an obligation.
If you went to a prep school, such as Hargrove Military Academy, then you are free to do as you like, and no one will think the less of you.

Who cares what anyone else thinks about your own life and death decisions? If the people whose opinions you value are fighting for the rich and powerful to control cheap oil supplies and/or stoke up religious hatred for their own political ends how unintelligent would you have to be to want to join them? Call them fools in return and you will know that you are right.
