Pakistan is a country whose democratic and civilized traditions are being gradually eroded by militarists and religious fundamentalists that will eventually destroy the country and endanger the whole world.

Rather than killing hundreds of thousands of people in Afghanistan and Iraq, shouldn't Clinton and Bush have withdrawn all support for the Musharraf dictatorship immediately, and instead focused on building stronger democratic institutions and real economic and social development?

No, they are all areas that needed to be addressed as do many other areas of the world, however it is about prioritising the most pressing matters. I feel the removal of Saddam was long overdue and with Afghan based Bin Ladens Taliban attacking the US on US soil it was important to reduce these threats as quickly as possible.
Pakistan is another matter that needs to be explored and that will happen in due course.
However Bush needs to ensure he doesnt spread his forces to thinly.

Afghanistan and Pakistan are the same problem. You can't fix one without the other.
Iraq was a brutal secular regime like there are many around the world. Saddam was not a Muslim extremists. The Iraq war is the biggest foreign policy failure in American history

He should have focused on something!

He wrote blank checks to terrorists and now we are seeing the results before the elections...

See what happens when you lie with dogs like Musharaf?

Hillary was right to call for an international investigation... Bush certainly didn't even figure out that he was dumping our tax money into the Taliban... (or maybe he knew all along).

Now Musharaf has sent his "experts" to reassure us that he is fighting terrorism in Pakistan and that Bhutto only accidently bumped her head...

afghanistan needed military incursions to weed out al quaida terrorists. iraq was wrong and has put gasoline to the widespread rise of fundamenalism in the islamic countries....the invasion did nothing to deter anything but democracy and moderate islamic ideals in the middle east....

I think it's about time the west stopped trying to impose their version of democracy on people who don't want it.
