Sounds about right to me. Americans now want a just master, not freedom.
A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.
The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
* From bondage to spiritual faith;
* From spiritual faith to great courage;
* From courage to liberty;
* From liberty to abundance;
* From abundance to complacency;
* From complacency to apathy;
* From apathy to dependence;
* From dependence back into bondage.

No, they have not in many years. The government has bought it's way into private lives under the veil of supporting families during times of crisis, and applies discriminate policies through their socialist services.
The education system was revamped to alter life term opportunities, and the "community" decides where an individual will spend their time and efforts as far as employment, education, and what future opportunities are available to them as young adults.
The government is working on goals to meet by 2010; the plan is not complete.
That is the bi-partisian effort in a nutshell; complacency, with government involvement meant to "better public morals" through the government programs, the problem lies when a government employee violates another's religious faith through the government programs.

The constitution's dead. Our president has labled it "just a piece of paper". 200 years of glory, from the founding fathers to the shores of Normandy, all gone to waste.
Checks and balances are out out of order, the justice department slowly does away with our rights, and my hard earned money is building a new Iraq to only to be destroyed again. Our reputation is soiled. Federalism is gone- look at the power Washington has today? And to top it all off, congress grants themselves a pay raise. The presidential race is more of a popularity contest than a comparison of credibility and character.
I love America and no other country I've been to can compare. But with partisan warfare in Congress and a president who utilizes our fear for power, my pride only rests with America's past and those who are sent to fight in this current war.
We are in captivity- the captivity of Washington and it's gumbas.

I feel the same way. That is why we need less government and more corporate controlled systems in this country. Their is not one person of sound mind that would say this is horrible lets get the government to make it better and more efficient.
The more power we give to our government to control things the less we will have.
We do not need welfare the system is failed, we do not need universal health care the government will mess it up, bad. Anything we allow the government to take control of will work slower, worse and we will end up paying a lot more for it.
We need to take control of our own lives, take responsibility and a lot of us need to simply grow up.

Granted our country isn't perfect. However we have the best thing going. Upstanding citizens can vote and own firearms everybody is entitled to their own opinion(no matter how asinine it might be). We are not taxed as heavily as some european countries. Our biggest problems are that we complain too much, are too sensitive, and lack a sense of humor.
Cheers

The Democrats take this statement to heart - they want it all for free! The Republicans are supposed to die trying to support both themselves and the free of charge Democrats, so I guess I have my belief of what's being said (which seems to match your view) and they have theirs.
