Lemming Master Says: "Everyone knows that if we leave Iraq, not only will that country have little hope of regaining any form of stability, we will likely destabilize the entire region," he said. So the current turmoil reflects the "recognition in all policy circles that we are about to enter a new phase."

Logic says: The war cannot be won for the simple reason that all of the stated objectives were lies.
We cannot rid Iraq of weapons of mass destruction because they did not have any.

We cannot harm Al Qaeda by attacking Iraq because Iraq was already an enemy of Al Qaeda.

We cannot punish Iraq for 9-11 because Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11.

Therefore, victory in terms of the publicly stated objectives is impossible. WE cannot win this war. We can only lose it, which is exactly what Bush is doing right now.

“The events of September 11 were ordered by U.S. [officials] and Mossad so that they could carry out their strategy of pre-emption and warmongering and unipolarisation in order to dominate the Middle East”, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi told military commanders on Tuesday. His comments were reported by the state-run news agency ISNA.

"Evidence linking these Israelis to 9/11 is classified. I cannot tell you about evidence that has been gathered. It's classified information." -- US official quoted in Carl Cameron's Fox News report on the Israeli spy ring and its connections to 9-11.

"I think there is very compelling evidence that at least some of the terrorists were assisted not just in financing -- although that was part of it -- by a sovereign foreign government... It will become public at some point when it's turned over to the archives, but that's 20 or 30 years from now."
-- Senator Graham as quoted in Senator: At Least One Foreign Country Assisted the 9/11 Terrorists

How many of you - civilians - have actually seen a war? Do you know what you are talking about? Have you smelled burning flesh, have you experienced terror, anger, rage and insanity of it firsthand? Have you ever buried your brother (whatever left of him in a zinc coffin) when he was only 18?

To all you military guys - I respect you and applaud you, I support you because this is what you do, this is your job. You are my brothers too.

To all those who asked is I would defend my country - we shall yet to see who will be first with their rifle!

1. The voters claim that every social ill is the government's responsibility but when the state legislates on these issues they are accused of interfering and being the 'Nanny State'.

2. Also, on the one hand voters complain that the politicians don't listen to the public. On the other they complain that they are too influenced by public opinion and 'focus groups' (and are hence not showing true leadership).

Frequently the same people will have both opposing views - is it any wonder politicians are deceptive?
