How many of you - civilians - have actually seen a war? Do you know what you are talking about? Have you smelled burning flesh, have you experienced terror, anger, rage and insanity of it firsthand? Have you ever buried your brother (whatever left of him in a zinc coffin) when he was only 18?

To all you military guys - I respect you and applaud you, I support you because this is what you do, this is your job. You are my brothers too.

To all those who asked is I would defend my country - we shall yet to see who will be first with their rifle!

I wonder if you will actually get any answers defending that cruel and crazy war. I'll be watching the answers to this one.

Peace!

Wow! You did! Unbelievable. I thought I was the first to answer!

This is kind of a dicey question. If civilians are not allowed to support war unless they have seen it, then it stands to reason that civilians are not allowed to stand against war unless they have actually seen it. That's part of what makes a nation free - the right to have opinions on anything regardless of your experiences.

As a member of the military, I wholeheartedly support the war even though I have not yet been to Iraq or Afghanistan, and knowing that I could (probably will) very well go over there in the near future.

Very few civilians in the United States have seen a war, and this is something for which we should all be very thankful.

Nobody said that war is easy and that the men and women in the military don't see terrible things. I don't really understand what your point is in putting that question. We are at WAR. It's not supposed to be pretty. I've got a brother over there right now. I pray to God that he comes back safely. I worry about him every day. Does that mean I think he should come home? No, he is there for a reason. They are all there for a reason. I've said it on here before and I'll say it again. If we did not go there, the war would be here. Do you want your neighbors house blown up? What about another 9-11? If we do not finish the job we started then the terrorists will win. Is that what you want?

You don't experience the war because our country has taken it over seas. That's what the soldiers are for.

If you were in NYC when the towers were attacked, maybe you would have smelled the burning flesh or seen people jumping to their deaths. And the firefighters fighting to keep us alive. We were terrified and angry to lose our people.

In our confusion and bereavement, who could understand on that day that we were surviving an Al Quaida strike?

the answer if very complex.... you would have to understand years of tryanny and world economics... and religion issues... the people in Iraq have been tormented for centuries... race and religious seggregation ...oil ... and money and greed... not all Iraqi people are bad... just the tyrants.... and the ones who are still controlled by outside influences... a few years ago we were there friends... the ussr had invaded there country... we supplied them with food guns, and training... look where that got us... they live under alot of turmoil... just imagine the us if all the different races declared war on each other... that would be a mess huh? then toss in the religions too ... baptists fighting catholics etc..

You can support your country's soldiers without supporting the immoral purposes that your government uses them for. In the eyes of the world generally, the US government is presently the most immoral government on Earth.

We would not want your soldiers to come to harm, but we can't say as much for the political leaders who require them to do evil things around the world.

Hasten the day when your president, senators and warmongering congressmen, and their living predecessors, must sit through a trial for war crimes, with the hangman's gallows visible on just the other side of the window.

I haven't seen a war, just video footage. I would defend the country if there were a direct threat.

Hi Oksana...the reason we are fighting the war is so that we don't have to experience all of the things that you speak of, here on our own soil. And like you, I respect our military more than words can express. As civilians, there is nothing we can do, but offer our support and prayers.

I dunno anything about real-life war and I'm not interested in politic and all its discussions but one thing I know for sure, is that Iraq is a country of also civilians just like US or any other countries, so when there's this "war" thing going in that country where the civilian casualties and deaths are high ranked then something must've gone wrong. it's never about pride, patriotism or even justice anymore... it's just people killing people but doing so "legally" that's just sick..

I'm not thrilled about the war, or any war for that matter, but civilians shouldn't rush to protest. There's probably a lot more going on in Iraq and the Middle East than we know, and I'm sure those in the service know, but can't tell more about it. People like Cindy Sheean need to sit down and be quiet, and turn their rage into prayers. We don't know the whole story, so civilians and liberals need to stop being so judgemental!!

Oh good grief... You just learn that war isn't nice? You got that all by your self with no help? I suppose that there is some real point in your non question rambling rant somewhere. When you can come up with an actual question.... repost it.
