I want your opinion on the matter. Personally I would like to see a woman as the next president, but I want to know if you think its a good way to go and why? All answers are welcome.

I don't think it really matters. All that matters is people vote for the person who they think will best represent them. Man, woman, whatever that person is.

None of the women currently in politics are acceptable candidates. The US has no equivalent of Margaret Thatcher. It is a very bad idea to choose a candidate based on race or sex. Besides being racist and sexist, this ignores a person's suitability for an important office. This has extreme negative consequences. It also assumes that a suitable candidate could not get elected. That isn't even close to being true. If a strong conservative female and/or minority candidate showed up on the scene, they could easily get elected. I say conservative because the democrats are both racist and sexist. Rather than strong candidates, they bring in "tokens" and laugh about it (like Howard Dean did). Even Hillary Clinton can't get the nomination. The dems want a wacko far left communist traitor as their candidate....but not if it's a woman.

If there is going to be a minority or female president, it's only likely to come from the republicans.

I would love to see a woman U.S. president just to see if it really makes a difference (as we women would like to think!).
Margaret Thatcher was the first (and only) female Prime Minister of England and, as an ultra-conservative, she was absolutely NOT my "cup of tea"!
Women make up at least half of the world's population (I think it's actually a bit more than half); they/we can be and are astronauts, doctors, lawyers, scientists, executives -- why should the office of president be off limits?
As for who? That's tougher! Although BOTH the Democrats and Republicans seem to be foundering over who to start pushing as a potential candidate. (John McCain? Barak Obama? Hillary Clinton? Condaleeza Rice?)
A good woman may be as hard to find as a good man!
