What does it have to do with President's job?

2006-06-09 10:03:14 · 20 answers · asked by Anonymous

So I was reading an article on how Congress rejected the Net Neutrality bill (which would basically ensure that websites didn't have to pay extra for 'privileges'). Now, most people support this bill, but because the big industries *cough*telecoms*cough* (with the exception of major websites, which lobbied for the bill) oppose it, it died.

And this isn't the only issue. Peer-to-peer would have been entirely legal had Congress listened to the voice of the people, but they listen to the MPAA/RIAA instead.

So, how can we change this? I mean, Congress isn't going to pass laws against itself, I doubt the President cares too much about it. And both Democrats and Republicans are ultimately MUCH more dependent on corporate money than the individual citizens. Any ideas on a legal (non-violent) solution, or are we screwed?

I believe in the right to bear arms.
I believe the government has a responsibility to "promote the general welfare".
I believe in protecting the environment.
I believe that abortion is wrong, except in cases of rape, incest, severe deformity, or the life of the mother.
I believe in free trade, but closed borders.
I believe in a balanced budget. I balance mine.
I believe in "freedom of speech", unless that speech causes direct harm to another.
I believe Jesus is my Savior, and try to "love my neighbor" regardless of what he believes
I believe in a strong, well-supported military
I believe America's first responsibility is to take care of her people first, and others later.
I believe in the Constitution and Declaration of Independence - every word

to sum it up: I believe that individuals have the right to do whatever they will with their own lives and property, so long as they respect the equal rights of others.

I believe President George W. Bush is doing a very good job. He is helping the entire world and our country. I know we did not FIND any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, but I believe they were there. At least we got rid of sadam hussane, and have you heard from Osama bin laden, no. Don’t blame the president for the gas prices; our prices are still lower than the rest of the worlds were before president bush. Most of the stuff democrat’s use as evidence to discredit bush is made up or exaggerated. And yes he did have a C average, but it was at Yale. And yes he may have said this about the Constitution: 'It's just a goddamned piece of paper', but sometimes these things can get in the way of what’s right.

5 hallmark traits of conservativism:
-favor free markets and limited government.
-Support a strong American military
-Support states' rights
-seek to defend what they see as traditional values
-support fiscal responsibility
Have I suddenly become a conservative without knowing it? I am in favor of ALL these things.

It would seem that Al Queda and the DNC are on the same page. Saddams defense team is also on board using the same rhetoric as both the DNC and Al Queda. Doesn't this make you wonder about the Democratic National Committee? Which side are you on? Al Queda \ DNC or the USA?

I am a Democrat, and I have never seen a Republican give an open minded answer in these forums. I try to be open minded and see things from the other side, but I don't see Reps doing so. Is this a common thing from the Conservatives or am I just seeing the narrow minded? I don't want to incite anything with this question, I'm truely begining to wonder if it is just me that is trying to see both sides of these issues. Someone, please prove me wrong!

They get angry when you talk about sex, they call people names, yet they feel the need to control everyone else's sex life. Why is this? Is it jealousy? Frustration? Hidden feelings?

I think she's a troll, personally. Her political commentary is useless, she's just trying to get attention in the most controversial and juvenile way possible.

Why do people still pay attention to her?

Her comments towards those 9/11 widows were just tasteless.

I have become convinced of this because the conservatives on this site seem to hate Liberals with a rabid passion. I can only guess they are sexually frustrated and envious of us liberals who have satisfying sex lives. If that's not it, what is it that makes you so angry? Is it Ann Coulter? Do you secretly want her? Or do you conservative women want to be like her?

Musgrave spokesman Shaun Kenney said someone stuffed the envelope through the mail slot in the door on May 31 and then sped away in a car. Staffers used the nine-digit ZIP code to trace it to Kathleen Ensz, a Weld County Democratic volunteer.

Ensz admitted to doing it but declined to comment on why.

Gotta love those liberals!!! Since this is supposed to be a question...what do you think of this?

35% of the people who vote won't vote for a Democrat. 35% of the people who vote won't vote for a Republican. It's the 30 % like myself that actually determine who's running the country. And WE vote for the one we like the best even if we don't like him/her. Because we don't like the other guy more.

Give us a Democrat who we like more than anyone else and we'll vote for him/her. I can't speak for anyone else. But for me the slogan,"Vote for me I'm not a Republican" doesn't trip my trigger. How many agree with me? I want complete ideas--Not sound bites like stop outsourcing jobs, tax the wealthy, mend the fences with foreign countries and other blips.

Whose fault is it really? Was it the German people's fault for accepting and keeping Hitler in power? Is it the Alliance's fault for imposing an incredibly stringent treaty on Germany for their acts in WW1? Is it the German government's fault? It's a really interesting question that I'd love to have answered.
