What does it have to do with President's job?

it had nothing to do with the president's job. Kenneth star could not get Clinton on anything else so he went after a sex scandal, knowing that he could get him to lie on the subject or embarrass him. what he and Monica did in the oval office had nothing to do with the original investigation.
there have been plenty of politicians that have been adulterers and others that have laundered money and got away with it. i do not believe anybody in Washington can really take a moral high ground on this. there is plenty of shame to go around on both sides, democrat and republican.
part of power is that it corrupts. i do not care who it is, there is the potential to act self righteous and lie about many issues, not just about if one had extra curricular activities in the oval office closet.
as the general said to Joe McCarthy, sir, have you no shame?
I say this to our current president and congress.

The Monica Lewinsky affair hurts Americans so much because it demeans the office of the Presidency. The highest office in the land is supposed to be the personification of dignity and personal honor. An affair like that just makes it look sleazy.

In the future, we should stop being such hypocrites and prudes. If a President has some indiscretion (as JFK did..... many times), the press should have the self-restraint to just keep their big mouth shut. Back in the 1960s, there was an unwritten agreement between the Presidency and the press. Now, the liberal media is awash in ethics-impaired "journalists" who endanger the country by leaking sensitive information. (remember the supposed existence of CIA holding prisons in Eastern Europe for Al-Qaeda?)

For the sake of the country, we should be very hesitant to embroil a President in a scandal. It only distracts from his ability to run the country. We're engaged in a life and death war on terror. We have to stop making the life of our Presidents so precarious. They are human beings too, and their ability to perform their job without undue stress should be of paramount importance to us all.

The american public like to believe that their politicians are perfect. The Monica Lewinsky affair proved that after all the president was just a man with all the weaknesses any ordinary man has.
Personally, i think it endeared him to a lot of people who could now believe that an ordinary Joe could be President.

Because when Clinton wanted to go after Osama BinLaden and said that AlQuaeda was a threat, people said "wag the dog". People thought that Clinton going after the threat of terrorism was a diversion from Monica Lewinski.

He had an affair with an intern in his office, the seat of power. People though that Clinton was so great to the point that he couldn't make any mistakes. But people have to realize that he is a man,and they'll make mistakes just like any one else. When a woman becomes president, they'll probably make the same mistakes that these men have made.

Seems mild compared to what we are experiencing with Bush doesn't it? It was hard to see a president lie about an affair. But I don't think it really hurt anyone but Hillary and Chelsea. Bush has hurt me alot more.

We hate to see that our President is not godlike. And when that President is the only thing between us and George Bush, its extra bad. And that is without going into what is the President's job, which is becoming a good question all by itself.

I think that it maybe because obviousley the amercian public (and others) were envious of her affair with clinton... i mean obviousley hes the most gorgeous man on the planet.... *grin*

OR just filthy rich (now ex) president :P hahaha....

Which one i wonder...

She just came across as a high class slapper with no respect for clintons wife, others or herself. I think personally the american public had so much faith in clinton before this-and then his "wholesome american image" kind of collapsed horrifically afterwards... I also think that people wee shocked by clintons choice in women.... she wasnt exactly the most attrractive......!! Perhaps this is why they were so attractive to one another...now it makes sense! :P

serves him right! he should learn to keep it in his pants!!!

firstly i thought it was great. It hurt most Americans because the christain drum bangers that voted him in, couldnt believe he could do such an "evil" act. He should have confessed instead of denying it, it would have won more browny points. He is only human, and if you have a young, not bad looking intern with Leader lust wanting to blow you, most men couldn't resist.

It hurt our trust of him. Even though it has little to do with the details of the job, trustworthiness is desired of all authority figures, from priests to CEOs to sitting presidents. Otherwise it makes one doubt the sincerity of the office. I guarantee you she wouldn't have done what she did if he was just an admin sitting at a desk.
