I am a Democrat, and I have never seen a Republican give an open minded answer in these forums. I try to be open minded and see things from the other side, but I don't see Reps doing so. Is this a common thing from the Conservatives or am I just seeing the narrow minded? I don't want to incite anything with this question, I'm truely begining to wonder if it is just me that is trying to see both sides of these issues. Someone, please prove me wrong!

Good answers so far. I want to add a bit, though. I was just saying that I haven't seen them...I'm not doubting that they are out there, I'm just wanting to hear from them. I am Liberal but I agree with some things that Conservatives say. I'm not way left...more towards the middle.
fr_chuck-I would agree with banning abortion to an extent and I would support the war if we had a legitimate reason why we were there. I have yet to see it.
jaylor_60-I try to stay away from the bashing as well...I try.
Chris-I've seen and noticed a lot of narrow minded Dem views. Those are the ones I don't respond to. I try to respond to the ones that are putting me and those with my views down. I get tired of being viewed as "un-American" because I don't like Bush. I think the un-American thing to do is to not care about what goes on in our government. I'm standing up and speaking my beliefs and get demonized for it. I'm done hiding my opinions.

And I see horribly close-minded Democrats. It's your perspective. When a Democrat says something narrow-minded and it's something you agree with, you're not as likely to notice that what they're saying is narrowminded. When a Republican says something you don't agree with, your radar picks up on it. It's not them- it's you.

And honestly, have you not come across the user Hitler_is_Bush? Tell me that's not narrow-minded. Right.

What's really funny Jacket is that I would tend to say it goes the other way. I consider myself open-minded but at the same time I have opinions which I believe are correct (doesn't that make me close minded, ironic isn't it?).

Most open-minded people stay away from the Democrat Bashing or Republican Bashing questions and don't bother. I know that's what I do...

Only those from an extreme part of a political party OR those who are insecure in their views preach their views.

Most of us just give our views, not bash others who don't believe in theirs. By the way, I'm a Democrat, but if you want to see a level-headed, open minded Republican, come to the northwest. You'd be surprised how many things my Republican father and I agree on.

Maybe you feeling like Republicans are not answering you from both sides is really you seeing things one way??!?!

Okay, when you discuss politics it basically boils down to ethics and beliefs. Those are very passionate things and seeing something from both sides that you are passionate about is hard to do. An example of a Democrat who cannot see things from both sides is dailykos.com, Ann Coulter would be an example of the right.

The definition of Republican and Democrat has really become blurred and deviated so far from their original origins. Both parties are rather sad reflections of their true selves.

As a true hard core right wing fanatic and member of the vast right wing conspiracy and proud of it I can see your point from the opposite side. I rarely see a left minded individual give any credence what so ever to a conservative point of view. It is really really very sad this dialogue has gone so far to the extremes of the left and the right. On your point I see right wing fanatics that make me look like a marxist and I really do view my political beliefs as far right....on the opposite side I see "hate" from what I thought was a party of tolerance on the left....they seem to hate GW, and conservative ideals so much I wonder some times.

Interesting question, and it illustrates exactly why Republicans have been beating the pants off the Democrats.

It's not about being open-minded, it's about winning elections. Americans are not open-minded, on the whole. They want simple answers to their problems, even if the answers are wrong. Don't make them think - it hurts.

If you can separate one political party from the next, you are a robot. The Republicans have them and so do the Democrats. You carry the banner, shout slogans, incite discontent.

We are ALL Americans and we need to forget the Red State/Blue State mentality if we want to keep our freedoms. We are one people. Your neighbors are NOT your enemies just because of who they vote for!!

What madness.

Good question. It seems that when a liberal asks a question on this forum, and provides facts to back them up, we are often thought of as being un-American. Fact is when I think of where America is headed I want to be headed North.

I have seen open minded Republicans in real life. Usually, on the Internet, people are just out to troll and cause trouble because they can do so safely from behind their desk.

sadly it is because what is really a true statement is not considered good or factural to many democrats, they would prefer to use other methods to get to thier point of view.

And honestly open minded, show me a democrat that would say they would be open minded about stoping abortion, supporting the war and so on,
