A winner takes all approach to our elections doesn't really seem to represent the will of the people. If a candidate wins a small majority of the votes they win all of a states electoral votes. For example, in 2004 George W. Bush received 66% of the votes in Nebraska and John Kerry received 33%. If we moved away from our current electoral system to what would be a true representation of our votes, Kerry would've received at least one of those electoral votes. And in California, Kerry received 54% of the votes, and George W. Bush received 45%, so by moving away from our electoral system we're now using Bush would've received 25 of the electoral votes and Kerry would've received the remaining 30 votes.
Here's what America really looks like

Why are Republicans trying to do this in only California?
Any thoughts?

I've just recently become interested in this issue/idea. Im a struggling college student and from the little bit that I've read about the fair tax, and the very basic knowledge I've aquired, it would seem to me that the fair tax has tremendous merit and perhaps would actually be more "fair" -as its namesake presupposes. I was wondering if anyone could briefly present both sides of the debate (pros-cons) and then tell me what you believe and why? thanks.

Just imagine this scenario in the far future. Say that everybody had their own spaceship which they could grow food on, have hospitals, schools etc. Then imagine they could travel at the speed of light so if they fled from the police no one could catch them wouldn't the state cease to exist as no one would need it anymore.

Do people think he is honestly trying to educate us and is concerned about the planet or did you ever think it's just a big build up to tax us because the sun came up today?
If he really cared or believed about this junk science why does he use 12 times the energy as the average family of 4.
It's like doing a D.A.R.E. promotion while stoned.

Don't you think, in the end, it's all about more tax's?

According to George Magazine (Dec. 2000)
Hillary knew sex sells and threw that story out to the public.
When in fact she was using it to hide the documents she was shredding, purgery, carting files out of the White House.
In short she did not want the public to know what she was doing because she was toatlly abusing her power.
If indeed this is true, SHE PLAYED WITH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE FOR TWO YEARS.
I also believe this was going on during the same days that guy Vince has a heart attack.
She also spent much time in Isreal (with all that thick heavy pale make-up trying to look like she belonged there) during this time.
I want this question fully answered before I can consider even looking at her.

I am so disgusted that they did that. Time magazine, names Putin man of the year? After he sends nuke shipments to Iran?

I would think they would completely castigate and verbally desecrate him vs make the world think hes a great man. Hes surely not.

Is this really a violation, or just someone who doesn't like the answer?

Question:

What, in your opinion, is the most immoral act of the current Bush administration?
There is lots to choose from, but please name what you consider the worst: treason in outing V. Plame, lying about WMDs, torture, scuttling of habeas corpus, tying a webcam to a dog, shooting friends in the face, outlawing stem cells, vetoing all laws that help others besides his rich buddies, the rich buddy tax cuts, the 2001 hanging chads, etc.

Answer:

Not rounding up all the Dems and shipping them off to those FEMA concentration camps.

Now what part of the TOS or the Community Guidelines does that answer violate that the question didn't?

Gaudete, gaudete Christos est natus
Ex Maria virginae, gaudete.

As an atheist may God, Yggdrasil, the Norns, the Fates, the Oracles, Wotan, The Flying Spaghetti Monster and Leprechauns all grant you a day of festive cheer!

If you can- I thoroughly recommend Midnight & Christmas Mass at St Paul's- the music & Choir alone is truly magnificent superb. I'll be there. Enjoy our culture while it's still about.

Guadete Dominum!
Adeste Fideles!

Specifically, is it punishable by law to fly/display another national flag above the U.S. flag, to the right of, or both?
I know the Constitution addresses this as UNconstitutional, but why do I see it happening so often, especially with the Mexican flag?

Why does the government have one tax for this, one for that, and one for that over there, when you could have just one tax. Is it so people don't see how much they are really paying the government? Why cant it be just like 20% of how much money you make, or something like that? It probably wastes more money to have a bunch of different taxes, because someone has to organize and sort all of them.
