And if so, how come? Is it to prevent hysteria (an understandable situation if so) but what I, we don't understand is why an unsuccessful attempt wouldn't be front page news if not only to promote the "good" and success behind the FBI, CIA, NSA, the Patriot Act and such. I am not one to believe in conspiracies but I find it hard to believe that there has not been another attempt on US soil after September 11. I am thankful for no such attacks and love my country but are we being kept in the dark? This was actually dinner conversation initiated by my 16 year old daughter after what she called a "heated debate" in her modern history class.

Bush-loyalist so-called conservatives, what was it your ideology stood for again? OOH yes, it was fiscal responsibility, having a limited/small government, and moral values. Why are you too thick-headed to realize that Bush and his cabinet has abandoned all that?
Fiscal Responsibility-Bush NEVER stops to think of better ways to conserve money. He spends "like a liberal" as some put it.
A Limited/Small Government-Bush is the closest U.S. president to becoming a dictator that this nation has ever had. His legislation, which directly conflicts with the Constitution's Habeas Corpus, gives him the right to apprehend anyone and hold them without any soon trial. Citizens can be arrested depending on what they say, despite the 1st Amendment. That is the kind of thing dictators are able to do. You can't deny that. Then with the illegal warrentless wire-tapping; it was meant to be kept secret but fortunately the American people found out. It broke the FISA laws and moreover the 4th Amendment.

The US imports 10,400,000 barrels of oil per day
http://www.nationmaster.com/country/us-united-states/ene-energy
The cost of the Iraq war is $363.7 billion over 4 years (1460 days)
http://nationalpriorities.org/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=182
The average military subsidy is thus approximately $23.95 per barrel of imported oil. If consumers paid this price at the gas pump rather than through taxes, alternative energy sources would be more competitive. Should consumers pay the true cost for oil?

The Congress raised the minimum wage, they want to make college tuition more affordable and a lot more. Where the money come from? Do Democrats think money is for free? Why Republicans oppose it? Does that increase the US national deficit?

From reading the politics section of answers it seem to me that most are blindly following what they see as either the 'conservative', or 'liberal' view.
What will usually happen is a republican will ask a question like 'why do liberals think that the war in Iraq is a rubbish idea' and you will just get answers like:
'because liberals are crazed anti-Americans who want $10 an hour minimum wage and think its ok that hispanics cant talk english'
from the republicans and:
'why are you so ignorant, youre obviously in the army i can tell. Why dont you read a book instead of trying to inflame people and promote a backward way of thinking?'

Or from democrats you will get questions like:
'Why dont Americans care about people dying in Iraq'

and answers from republicans:
'you can make an omelette without breaking a few eggs'
or from democrats:
'because the media is run by Bush himself and Bush is the definition if pure evil.
Why dont people address the issues instead of promoting their party

For instance I know that they are constantly harping on about the war on terrorism, and some of their worries and points are valid but are delivered with such a clear vitriolic hatred of the US that I can't deal with them. So can they ever support America? When the first terrorists start suicide bombing targets in the US again, which should start right after the election of a democrat who stops all anti terrorism measures, will the libs want to fight back then?

AUSTIN, Texas - Bypassing the Legislature, Republican Gov. Rick Perry signed an order Friday making Texas the first state to require girls entering the sixth grade to get Gardasil, Merck & Co.'s new vaccine against the sexually transmitted virus that causes cervical cancer.

Merck is bankrolling efforts to pass state laws across the country mandating Gardasil for girls as young as 11 or 12. The federal government approved Gardasil in June, and a government advisory panel has recommended that all American girls get the shots before they are likely to be sexually active.

Question: Why not (at most) a government sponsored campaign asking parents to innoculate their children if this is such a problem? Why a law requiring the shot? What are your thoughts?

For years Liberals have complained about corporate tax breaks, passed environmental laws and supported Labor Unions which have caused American Companies to be unable to compete with foreign competitors. Now that these companies are shutting down their US operations and moving over seas, why aren't they rejoicing. I mean if Big Business was terrible isn't this a good thing? Doesn't this mean that the liberals accomplished what they set out to do?

And please no garbage about .25 an hour and sweat shops. At least the quarter was silver and it had some purchacing power. My first Job paid $1.00 an hour. People who worked out in the field made a $1.60. This was on a tobacco farm where we worked outside with no AC. I never complained that the people who worked in the field made more, I asked the boss when could I start working in the field. The reason I make over 20 times that today is I didn't wait for the government to make my life better.

How this will benefit US on the long run?
Do you think/support Israel is capable of repalcing our presence in IRAQ?
Do you agree Israel has an obligation to sacrefice its own IDF instead of our children defending "their" security in the middleast ?
