Critics of government policies implemented in the wake of 9/11 have argued that legislation such as the PATRIOT Act have undermined many of the civil liberty protections outlined in the Bill of Rights, while at the same time only providing citizens with a modicum of actual safety.Do you think that it is possible to balance the War on Terror with civil liberties or are such protections against increased government police powers now obsolete?

This is not meant as a racist remark, but a genuine observation, as it causes a big fuss every time anyone makes any kind of comment on Muslims/Islam.

Did Dennis Hastert (United States Speaker of the House) genuinely have knowledge that congressman Mark Foley was instant messaging Rory Emerald and other congressional pages? In your honest opinion, do you think Rory Emerald is the "smoking gun" in the "Mark Foley scandal?"

What's w/ this STUPID lame-brained idea by the Bush administration, the Southern Baptist Convention, and the Republican party?...

The DEMANDS that ALL families eat together at the dinner table, say "grace" before even a midnight snack, go to church EVERY Sunday, offend other religions during the December holiday season by saying ONLY "Merry Christmas!", watch ONLY the "700 Club" every day(and tithe/donate 10% of your salary to your church every Sunday), sing only "East Coast traditional Christmas carols" door-to-door every night in December, etc...

That's downright STUPID...and yet I'm a liberal Republican w/ a teen son and daughter who share MY values, NOT James Dobson's!!!(take THAT, Colorado Springs!)...

Subsidized programs like Garib Rath by railways and righting off loans by finance ministry are extravagant measures taken by governments based on ruling-party’s / ruling alliance’s ethics and keeping the potential vote-banks in mind.

Tax payer’s hard earned money is spent, mercilessly, out of whims and fancies of small groups of politicians and vested interests.

Such programs should be permitted for materializing only after acceptance by both the houses of parliament and signature of the President of India.

MPs should bring resolution in the parliament to permit subsidies of total amount exceeding Rs. 1,00,000/- only in the annual budget. However lesser amount of subsidies be passed by both the houses.

Let us know what our website visitors think about it?

This country (USA) has the highest incarceration rate by far among free, developed countries. We routinely lock up people for trying to get high. We have a black market that supplies these people, funding crinimals who wind up fighting over turf and also terrorists and rouge nations. We have created a larger, more acceptable (to society) crinimal culture than we ever had... mostly because of our asinine rules regarding drugs. Their tactics in this unwinnable war include attacking our civil rights, notably the 2nd, 4th, 8th, and 10th amendments. The ban on drugs in this country is 100% unconstitutional, and has had disastrous effects on this country.

Is there any hope of this, among other ways this country has gone wrong, can be changed in the near future?

An FYI for those who might attack me and call me a stupid druggie: the only illegal drug I've done is pot, and haven't touched it since college.

We comprise about 4.5% of the world's population, yet we use between 40 and 50% of the world's resources, and are responsible for 25% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions.

Do you think we should do something about this?

Do Foley and Lewinsky really matter to anyone but independents. The Dems will always vote blindly Democrat and the Repubs will do the same with their party. If you are a Dem and you don't like what Clinton did, you will just vote for a different Dem and that's what the Repubs upset over the Foley incident will do.
