Has our country become a country of little countries demanding rights and refusing to immigrate fully into our society? Have we lost our the core values of being an American citizen as a nation? What is a true patriotic American anymore? Is there such a thing as immigrants pledging !00% allegiance to the American flag anymore?

Why does everybody answer questions about immigration laws and the process needed to take to get a green card when you know nothing and give false information? Someone else asked how to get a greencard(not citizenship) for her husband and everyone that answered told her only through amnesty and to get a divorce. Is everyone really that ignorant about the process of legalization. A green card is not citizenship, number one. Number two, an illegal alien married to an american citizen can get a greencard without amnesty. There are hundreds of thousands in the process right now and hundreds of thousands more applying everyday. If you are going to answer questions get your facts straight first, please. Just stop with all the hating.

If they don't have to, are we not enforcing the law that requires passport on re-entry into the country ? or do we think space is an extension of our country ?

If they have to show a passport, it does sound strange to have a customs and immigration at NASA.

Reader's Digest (dated Feb. 1962), came across this reprint from the

Washington News, and found it quite interesting in light of our current debates. The quote reads: Vice President Lyndon Johnson received the following message from a Native American Indian Chief on a reservation: "Be careful with your immigration laws. We were careless with ours."

More Americans killed by illegal aliens than Iraq war, study says
By Jim Brown
AgapePress
February 22, 2007

(AgapePress) -- Illegal aliens are killing more Americans than the Iraq war, says a new report from Family Security Matters that estimates some 2,158 murders are committed every year by illegal aliens in the U.S. The group says that number is more than 15 percent of all the murders reported by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the U.S. and about three times the representation of illegal aliens in the general population.

Mike Cutler, a former senior special agent with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (the former INS), is a fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies and an advisor to Family Security Matters (FSM). He says the high number of Americans being killed by illegal aliens is just part of the collateral damage that comes with tolerating illegal immigration.

"The military actually called for the BORTAC team, ... the elite unit of the Border Patrol, to be detailed to Iraq to help to secure the Iraqi border," Cutler notes. "Now, if our military can understand that Iraq's security depends in measure on the ability to protect its border against insurgents and terrorists, then why isn't our country similarly protecting our own borders?" he asks.

"We are not five and a half years, nearly, after 9/11, and yet our borders remain open," the Center for Immigration Studies fellow observes. "We have National Guardsmen assigned on the border, but it turns out they are unarmed," he points out. "Their rules of engagement are very simple: if armed intruders head your way, run in the other direction."

This situation would "almost be comical if it wasn't so tragic," Cutler asserts. "If our borders are wide open, this means that drugs, criminals, and terrorists are entering our country just as easily as the dishwashers," he says.

The report from FSM estimates that the 267,000 illegal aliens currently incarcerated in the nation are responsible for nearly 1,300,000 crimes, ranging from drug arrests to rape and murder. Such statistics, Cutler contends, debunk the claim that illegal immigration is a victimless crime. "Then we even have another problem," he adds, "and that's the Visa Waiver Program."

The federal government's Visa Waiver Program enables nationals of certain countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa. According to the U.S. State Department website, the waiver program was established in 1986 with the objective of "eliminating unnecessary barriers to travel," stimulating America's tourism industry, and allowing the government to focus consular resources in other areas.

Cutler says the U.S. retains the Visa Waiver Program because the nation's travel, tourism, and hospitality industries want America's borders wide open. In other words, the former INS official contends, the nation's security is being compromised in the name of trade.

Type Size Bandits attack migrants' car
3 gunmen open fire on vehicle in Chandler, kidnap driver
Sarah Muench
The Arizona Republic
Feb. 22, 2007 12:00 AM

Violence against groups of migrants by unknown armed bandits reached the Valley on Wednesday with a freeway attack in Chandler, the fourth similar incident in a month.

Three gunmen attacked a car carrying undocumented immigrants and kidnapped driver José Guzmán, who is believed to be a Mexican in his early 20s.

Guzmán, driving a car with five passengers, pulled off westbound Interstate 10 early Wednesday to get gas near Maricopa when two pickup trucks began to follow them, Chandler police said. advertisement

Guzmán continued westbound on I-10 to the eastbound Santan Freeway in Chandler and the trucks followed, forcing the vehicle onto the shoulder of the road shortly after they entered the Santan.

The occupants of the trucks opened fire with handguns, and at least one round hit the car, police said.

Police believe the attackers forced Guzmán into one of the trucks. Another attempted to kidnap the passengers by stealing the car but was unsuccessful and fled. The passengers were unharmed.

Sgt. Rick Griner, a Chandler police spokesman, said the passengers are in custody with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement because they are undocumented.

The passengers, whose names have not been released, were interviewed and are cooperating but apprehensive because of their immigration status, Griner said.

"Their emotions are up," he said.

Griner said Guzmán and the passengers were on their way to California, but police have no description of Guzmán or the attackers and don't know the motive.

Gustavo Soto, a U.S. Border Patrol spokesman in Tucson, said migrants who attempt to cross into the United States illegally increasingly face a new risk: cross fire from drug lords and human smugglers struggling for the control of the trafficking routes.

Several recent incidents have heightened authorities' concerns for the level of violence that the groups of traffickers are using to gain control of the routes, Soto said.

• On Feb. 8, four gunmen opened fire on a pickup truck carrying undocumented immigrants, killing a 15-year-old girl and two men at 7:30 a.m. just north of Tucson.

• About 12 hours earlier, on Feb. 7, 18 undocumented immigrants were robbed at gunpoint by four heavily armed men wearing ski masks near the border at Sasabe.

• On Jan. 27, four gunmen wearing military fatigues and berets, carrying assault rifles, shot and killed an Eloy man, who was driving a truck carrying undocumented immigrants near an Eloy farm field. The attackers, three Anglo men who spoke English and one Hispanic man who spoke English and broken Spanish, also shot 19-year-old Andrés de Jesús, of Oaxaca, Mexico.

In the Jan. 27 incident, detectives said the attackers could have been vigilantes, rival smugglers or criminals trying to steal drugs, although no drugs were found in the truck.

"Border bandits," criminals who operate in the desert and attack migrants, have also been escalating their attacks, he said.

Soto said the increase of violence is a result of traffickers' trying to maintain smuggling routes.

"It's a reflection of the frustration that (traffickers) feel since we intensified patrol in these areas and increased confiscation of their cargo of human beings and drugs," Soto said.

Do you think that people coming to Britain to live should have to be able to speak English? Or should we as a nation except people to live and work amoung us that can't? Should we let people live here but not let them recieve any money from the state or housing and just let them suffer? Or shut the door completly on anyone that can't speak english?

Personally, I'm sorry if this offends, but I don't think that we should let people live here that cant speak basic English. I especially don't think that they should revieve a job seekers allowance, as they probably can't get employment withouth communication. It seems so strange to me, I know we give out a fair bit of benifits so we seem like a good county to come to, but why come here if you can't comunicate with people. Ah yes, because we let them! Anyone else able to offer another opinion as I admit I don't understand the entire situation, and as a white British working citizen I can only offer one view.....
