You can ask the same questions like when you get a visitor at home. Ask him /her to sit & give something to eat & drink. you will not loose anything but you will have a new friend in need.
We live for a very short period. So treat every one equal we all have one colour for bloud. We were born naked & will dye leaving evrything. think about it.

what is the purpose of the interview?
is it an immigration interview?
do you really need to know personal aspects of this person besides his legal status?

Okay, the question is much clearer now. Ask them their name, where they are from, if they have family, what they did in their country, what conditions are like where they are from, and why they decided to come to the US. Ask them to tell you their story.. how they got into the US. I've heard some stories myself which are quite moving.

Why do they think they are above the law?
They can't legally say this is their land so why is it OK to live in another country without permission? Why is it OK to take benefits that are suppose to go to LEGAL citizens? Why is it OK not to pay taxes when citizen do?
