This goes WAY beyond what the US citizens have voted for when we elected these "yahoos" into office. I want to know how they LEGALLY could sell something that isn't theirs to sell to begin with.

When I say infrastructure I am talking about our highways and interstates.

Meanwhile Iraqi officials have accused the U.S. of killing at least 17 Iraqi civilians, including women and children, in multiple helicopter air strikes near Baquba on Friday. At least four houses were destroyed. One Iraqi army official said many of the civilians were killed when they rushed out to help those hurt in the initial bombing.

Toll roads in Pennsylvania, Illinois and Indiana are owned by foreign companies. A deal is being completed right now with an Australian company to manage a series of toll roads in Virginia.

While these toll roads are managed by foreign companies, the American tax payer will still foot the bill for building them. The foreign companies will collect any profits from the tolls.

In a country where American jobs are getting scarcer, it seems that these deals will make the situation even worse. In Virginia, Australia will manage 70 miles of "high occupancy" toll roads along the Capitol Beltway.

Many Americans do not realize that much of our infrastructure is being turned over to foreign management, including our ports, airlines, and roads. Should there be more publicity connected to these deals? Should foreign countries be allowed to buy into our public infrastructure or should laws be passed to prevent these arrangements that take the profits from our own people?

This is a follow-up of sorts from a previous question I asked.

It seems that this society has placed tremendous faith in the private sector to get things done. Examples include our health care system, and possibly our Social Security. My question is why is there so much faith in the private sector after repeated injustices (ie Enron, S&L scandals, Halliburton, monopolies, price fixing, etc)?

I realize that the government has erred (Katrina, Social security), but it is for the people, by the people. Why shouldn't we place more emphasis on an effective government? We can vote people in and out regularly. We cannot do the same in the private sector.

I want to hear thought and opinions on this. Please keep this respectful and provide serious answers please!!! Thanks!

holding people in the US without information about their whereabouts? This is the sort of thing that Che used to do in Cuba, Pinochet in Chile, Mao in China, and Hussein in Iraq.... Isn't the US the "defender of democracy?" Where are Ed and Elaine Brown? Arrested in New Hampshire, in the good ol' U. S. of A. for refusing to give a cut of their hard earned money to the greatest mafia in the world?

Hoping to deter crime by expanding the use of surveillance cameras, Aberdeen passed a measure that empowers the city government and police to require cameras in new developments.

The Police Department, the Department of Planning and Community Development, and the Department of Public Works will decide whether a new residential, commercial or industrial development must install cameras at "strategic locations" before a development permit is issued.
Simmons said he is interested in expanding the camera program in Aberdeen to monitor traffic on U.S. 40, using cameras that can read license plate numbers and run them through a computer database to check whether a car is stolen or the registration is expired.
