By far, the best country on the planet. I do wish we would close our borders and concentrate on domestic problems.

P.S. especially the borders from those coming over here from the middle east.

I am an Australian and while i have my misgivings about certain U.S policies, I understand that the United States does share common values with Australia.

It is easy for people to condemn U.S foreign policy without really understanding how it works. The U.S foreign policy is mixed with idealism and realism - While the U.S promotes ideals of freedom and democracy, it also pursues policies that benefit the U.S - just like the rest of the world does.

However, the United States provides an umbrella of freedom and democracy. And the fact of the matter is that as a nuclear power, the United States is a benign hegemon - protecting the nations and ensuring that no other hostile power emerges to threaten freedom and democracy.

Until the world places faith in the United Nations and starts contributing to world peace and security, then there is no other real alternative for small and middle powers as Australia but to support the United States.

While an emerging China uses its economic power to muscle smaller countries into voting for its policies and Taiwan and Russia is still seething from its loss in the Cold War, I will put my money on the United States as the only hope that freedom and democracy have.

While the United States promotes freedom and democracy, it also prevents smaller countries such as Australia from developing large miitary capabilities such as nuclear weapons which would start an arms race in SE Asia.

As an Australian i say god bless America.

America is the best country in the world in my opinion, however I do not like the lack of attention to our economy by both Republicans and Democrats. I believe the economy should be #1 priority, and that we should lower taxes and cut unnecessary services and spending (there's a reason why I live in America and not Europe), and no one else seems to agree with me (atleast not anyone who can really do a whole lot to change anything).

I do not believe the Republicans would win this election (though arguably it's way too soon to tell), and it looks like the Democratic candidate is going to be Hillary, and that's worrisome considering all the Communist nonsense she's been spewing. Personally I don't want to see America imitating Europe, but that seems to be what Hillary wants.

If a Republican were to win, who would it be? Only possibility would be some Evangelical who would attempt to illegalize more things simply because "they disagree with the will of God", and more laws for the sake of having more laws (or making everyone do what is ethical) is also not what I want. Though not explicitly stated anywhere (atleast I don't think it is), unethical is perfectly fine as long as it doesn't hurt others. While they don't want to stop American Capitalism, they want to stop American freedom.

I can't imagine I'm the only one who feels this way?

There is no country better than the United States. There are two main problems in my opinion. The first is politicians & regular people not sticking to their word and standing up for what they believe. I do not 100% agree with the current war, but I respect George Bush for sticking with it until their is victory. He is not going to pull troops out just because the majority of people are telling him to. He is the president, we have to respect that. I can't wait for '08 when (most likely) a democrat is voted to presidency and they don't do a single thing they promised to do campaigning.
The other thing that bothers me that is going on in this country is the big racism issue. I don't support racism, but it seems to me that when ever that when ever there is major racism issue(Don Imus, etc...) the other race tries to prove that they are better than whites and all whites are racist. Which I consider racist against whites. It seems to me that the word EQUALITY should be the major focus.

I suppose you meant the United States. It's the land of the free and the home of the brave. Things may not be perfect in the good ole US of A but compared to other countries, I'd rather live here. Besides to those who dislike US, they are always free and encouraged to go someplace else like Iran, or Burma, or North Korea.

No matter how much I disagree with our current crop of leaders in the government...I would still, rather live in the US than in ANY other country in the world...

My BIGGEST complaint about this country is the ALARMING number of spoiled brats that live here....taking for granted all that this country has to offer.

People whine about racism....people in the US have no concept of how bad racism is until they live in a country where one group of people is SLAUGHTERING another group of people because of their differences.....Here in the US people get all butt hurt when someone gets called a name...Gimme a break!!

People whine about immigration....unless you are a member of a Native American Tribe...YOU TOO were an immigrant...and your grandparents where most likely responsible for greater horrors than any FIVE of today's immigrants.

I hear people whining about having to learn Spanish to communicate in today's America...well guess what...you had a FREE chance to learn the language back in ANY High School in America....and your pissed because you...no comprenday espanyoll??

I could go on and on and on and on for hours...but it still doesn't even shake the truth of the fact that the United States is overall the best country in the country for a human to live....

If you doubt this....think about this....

You can judge the value of a country by the number of people trying to get OUT, versus trying to get it....
