The problem is what our economy has become. We have lost of a lot of jobs and even industries. Globalization is killing us. People need to save for retirement and health care but it's becoming increasingly difficult to do so. The cost of living is outpacing the wages earned despite our highest productivity in the world. Unions have lost power and they are needed the most. As an organization, like all others, they are imperfect but they are necessary. It's we the people that can improve them. We are all in this world together but it seems that some people prefer to only think of themselves and forget other people. The world has gotten increasingly complex. Democrats do have a tax and spend reputation but they are taxing and spending for the benefit of all people. It's up to the people to make sure the taxing and spending is responsible and makes sense. No one is perfect. Together we can get closer to perfection and that's the best we can do. To ignore or to discount is a serious error in judgment.

Because the Republican version is to increase the National Debt or give "Big Oil" a $2 billion tax break and spend and then pass it on to the Democrats once Bush is out of office. Commonly referred to as, "Smoke and Mirrors".

Well--I'm not defending wasteful spending by either party. But htereis one difference between the Democrats and the Republicans.

The Democrats do tax and spend.

The Republicans jsut spend--and leave the bills for our children to pay.

Let's see, the largest expansions of the government in recent years came during the Bush and Reagan presidencies. That means that your question is all BS. Republicans spend more. The difference is that Democrats expect us all to pay for the benefits of living in a Democracy while the Republicans expect everyone but those making above $200,000 a year to pay for the benefits.

If you don't want to pay for the troops, police, fire, civil defense, librearies, education, etc., why do you live in America? What is the point of you living here when you you admit to hating everything that America stands for?

Why is it the Republicans feel the need to spend so much when there is no money? Can our national debt and deficit get any higher without going into a major recession or depression? NO!!!!

Control is power. They want to control your money by taking more and more of it from you, which of course gives them power over you.

Because they know what's best for us better than we do. So they want to take care of us and get us to pay for it, too.
