Many cities were in ruins and the British were still a powerful presence.

The economy was strong and the British military was on the verge of complete collapse.

Cities were booming and the currency was strong.

Taxes were low and the currency was sound.

This is a link to a video that really frightened me. Do you think any of this is possible? Or am I a bit late in asking this question?

The older generation believes that socialism=communism=bad=soviet russia=our enemies.

Now why can't they understand that they are just beliefs that some have and they necessarily aren't the devil.

Yes, in a socialist society there is no religion, but a democratic socialist country can have one.

So why is it that when that flag is raised immeadiately there is "liberal pinko" this and the reds reproduce in swarms like insects?

A lot of the United States is socialized (Postal Service, schools, fire departments, police force). Why can't we continue that logic and use socialized health care as well?

Wow, I do realize that i was all over the radar there and i'm sorry for that, but conservatives (conservatives, not republicans, meaning people who want to maintain the status quo, so don't start a left/right debate there) always maintain the notion that socialism is bad!

"The United States of America should have a foundation free from the influence of the clergy".

"The United States is not a Christian nation anymore than it is a Jewish nation or a Mohammedan nation."

Is this another thing we can anticipate with a Democratic presidential and congressional victory in 2008? Costs of care up, birth rates of Italians down due to abortion and cost of raising children, and the need to bring in more foreigners to help care for the elderly.

I was aghast to read a media report of a 27-year-old Muslim woman and mother of two dying in starvation due to abject poverty in India on the same day when the Sensex touched a record 15000. This happened in a State where all politicians are super rich and some are worth unaccounted billions. A politician last week opened up a new facility worth several crores for a billionaire mindless Tamilnadu Evangelist. You may take it an emotional outburst, but I dare to ask a question in common parlance “How can you digest the food you gulp in plenty when your brethren are starving for want of the basic need, the food”. In my life I have experienced the pain of hunger in my youth and I know what it is and when I read my brethren in Northern India eating roots, grass and barks of trees, I go into an emotional trauma. India is a country where most NGOs are luxury-ridden and economic and political abuses are high in its graph. Is there a way out for the land of snake charmers from this jinx?

It has gone from a do every thing wrong body to a do nothing body. Maybe we should just call it a dead body and bury it.
