Yes.

Sometimes, some people are jsut too much of a threat to the continued peace and order of society to be allowed to continue participation in it.

For case study, if Jack the Ripper was caught and executed after his first murder, the subsequent victims would then have survived, and order maintained. If he was caught and gaoled, he adds stress to the innocents protecting the cells as a high-level criminal, and if he is released, he is able to continue his murderous spree.

Conclusively. The death penalty is important for people whos continued existance could disturb the efforts of a society or nation which should not be disturbed in that manner.

I know there is a moral aspect of killing Humans, but if in war we are willing to kill humans for obscure reasons such as being in service to an opposing force, then we should naturally be willing to kill individuals of whom deserve death from their own actual actions.

I'm against the death penalty because we're not 100% sure what happens after death. People who are afraid of death or who believe he'll go to hell and be punished after death usually think death is the worst punishment one can receive.

I'm not so convinced, I think people need to serve their time, also because they may be found innocent later if new evidence emerges.
Waking up every morning in jail and having to remember why you're in there is more punishment than death, which could entail being numb to everything and not suffering or feeling anything, being forgiven and going to heaven anyway, or being reincarnated as a baby human or animal or whatever.
But as for the concern about taxpayer costs, we could contract with Mexico ro a cheaper country to house and
feed (hehe) our prisoners there, and they'd do it for about $1000 a year instead of $30,ooo per head here in the USA.

Not having the death penalty as an option is an abdication of responsibility. It gives the ultimate power of life and death to those who are prepared to use it, that is, the criminal.
The argument about innocent people being executed is spurious. That is a fault with the judicial system, which should be addressed.
I don't argue that the death penalty be used in every case of homicide, or about what types of crime should be subject to it, merely for the principle.

The death sentence is "back" in states that allow it, but it is essentiall ineffective because it isn't applied quickly enough. Just as in punishing a kid, the punishment needs to be done quickly after the offense. We do need safeguards in place to protect the innocent found guilty, which happens far too often, but this should not be a reason to disallow the death penalty.

I myself think that the death penalty is wrong. I don't agree with it. Kind of two wrongs don't make a right. I believe in God as well and feel that if it isn't right for the criminal to kill how is it right for the government to kill them. My mind could be swayed if I was ever put in a victims shoes though. Not really sure what I would think then. As for now, this is how I feel.

I think they should come up with a criminal version of Survivor and put them all on an island and see who survives. That would be a lot less stress for the tax payers.
