Was creating the Department of Homeland Security neccessary or would it have been wiser to make sure that everyone was doing their jobs as effectively as possible?

I beleive it has been proven that 9/11 occurred because multiple U.S. agencies, departments etc. fumbled the intelligence on the matter.

Should the Federal Governments influence and control over State and local issues be lessened. Woudl this make us safer?

If we had a catastrophic event somewhere, lets say New Orleans, and the influence of the Federal Government was much more restricted, would it make it easier to manage rather than tryign to decide which agency from which level of government it falls into the hands of?

i was interested, how many people in the usa are uncomfertable with our national anthom "under god"? we are told to say it in school and yet (in my experience) they don't consider other people who don't beleive in "under god". god i think being the christian god. i'm hindu and i feel uncomfertable saying this at school, at sports events etc.
