It depends where you live. When I lived in Arizona, where the population is about equal between Mexican Americans and Caucasians, there are LOTS more Caucasians working for the government (county, city, post office etc)... In AZ, most of the people of color have the lower-end jobs (not in all instances, just the majority) like secretarial, janitorial, etc. But my post offices were all white!
I live in California now, and it seems as though Caucasians are the minority in government, but they are the minority anyway where I live. Also, the higher end jobs have many people of different ethnicity in the higher end jobs. (I've applied at the County where I lived and have a family member who works for the County)....
Just a note: I was at Yahoo, Inc. in Santa Clara and every single person that walked into work on that particular day, in those particular minutes was either Caucasion, Asian or Indian... I did not see ANY black or Mexican people.... that was just my observation... so your equal opportunity may not be for the government, at least not where you are... try Yahoo!

Look it up in the site www.usgovernment.gov
There is a huge amount of Federal and local government positions held by minorities. So what is the point of the question?I agree with Shooter that is correcto mundo we have bent over in a big way to ad all the minorities that if you are not Hispanic or speak hispanic you cant get a job at Wal-Mart either. And that is a fact.

No, I don't agree. Because I don't know. And I don't give a rat's *** what is the percentage of this, that, or another race in any occupations. That is what the pro-affirmative action crowd worry about.
I want for individuals to have equal opportunities. Individuals. Employment opportunities are meant to be utilized by individuals.

Are you kidding me? Mostly all the high paid jobs go to White people. If working a minimum job, a white person will earn a little more, where the minority will be working for minimum wage.

Minorities will always get picked over a white person. But do remember in history the white people treated the minorities like dirt. So this is payback time for the white people.

Caucasians regard govt jobs as less attractive & hence below their status, hence the others grab them.

Why do you have to be so concerned about what color someone is? Can't we just worry about if they can do the job? If you hire minorities to "equal" things out, you are being racist.
