There is a complex relationship between politics and the media.

Without a free and independent media the government wouldn't be as accountable to it's citizens. On the other hand, without a free and independent media, government and political organizations couldn't get their message out easily.

There are drawbacks, of course. Politicos (from both sides of the aisle) complain about media inbalance in their reporting. In fact, this very phenomena has been the subject of news stories.

There's another aspect too, as media companies move to get more ratings and make their shows appeal to a wider audience they have come to refine what they do to grab the attention span of an ever more discriminating audience. These methods have also been employed by political organizations - consider how most of the information we receive concerning candidates and issues are summed up in two-minute sound bites.

It's a very complex relationship.

The media is the position we get the information how the information is equipped impacts how human beings experience about particular subject matters. that is had to have a free self reliant media this isn't the case contained in the united states. I examine the information from the united kingdom, Russia, Finland and Germany to get change perspectives on issues from that i'll peace jointly what's honestly occurring. you should locate it impressive that ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox truly run an same memories interior an same format, all leaning a particular way. the astounding evidence that the media is biased and not in any respect self reliant is the run as a lot because the Iraq conflict. there have been no important dissenting perspectives. Condi's remark "will we want evidence they have the Bomb as a mushroom cloud" taken as actuality!! at the same time as now searching back there have been sufficient human beings declaring on the opposite.

It affects everything we do, in every way. It effects the way we percieve things mostly, without the media all of the little things that are blown out of proportion would not be an issue, but if we did not have the media all of the mistakes made by the government would go unnoticed, and the government would not be held responsible. So basically it would be impossible for a democracy to function without the media.

Media marketing exerts a great deal of control by what is said, how it is said and by what is not said. Some areas of the country have their media news filtered in the extreme. Example, Humboldt County in Calif., residents refer to the filtering of the news as being "behind the redwood curtain".

Since the media has such obscene power, perhaps we live in a 'Mediaocracy'?

Well think about it, if you watch NBC/ABC/CBS/CNN/PBS/NPR or read the Washington Post or New York Times you are getting one side of the story vs Fox News/Rush Limbaugh. People are really mad that Fox news and Rush are even out there (they want them silenced). How do you think that affects things? The media is fairly Liberal, watch The Today Show tomorrow morning and then change to Fox News around 10AM, you will see the difference, and you may not like it.

Not really. Example the last two elections. The media bashed Bush till they couldn't stand but he prevailed showing that the American people can still think and vote contrary to what the media feeds them. That's how it should be!
