Almost no one trusts our elected officials because we think they are in somebodies pocket. Take that completely out of the equation and publicly fund the elections and provide exactly the same resources to each side.

Also if a candidate wants to say something negative about another require proof first. Hearsay won't cut it.

He suspects and promises that by this time he will have stopped all terrorist acts against America. Feelng that he can no longer trust the Congress because it is being run by Democrats. Also thinking that the because it is being run by Democrats, they will not have the proper support to continue the current effort of preventing terrorist attacks.
QUESTIONS:
1.) Why or why not would you go along with this?
2.) Can you think of any past Presidents who have thought about or have actually done this?

The fundamental idea that politics and religion should not intersect or overlap is flawed. It sounds great in theory; however, in reality I would suspect that most people do not divide their worldview into secular and sacred. For better or for worse, the marriage of politics and religion will not be undermined by political correctness or even the laws governing the seperation of church and state.
We as a society must be mature enough to realize that although we all come to the table of brotherhood, we all do not sit on the same side. All Christians, Muslims, and Jews did not come to the table of America via the same journey, parentage, cultural perspectives, or starting points. Naturally we will not all share the same views on social or political issues. How someone understands his or her faith and how a person uses his or her vote are part of a total picture of how we as a collective people create our world views. The IRS should not seek to antogonize churches for participating in the democratic process. Yes, the church is an institution that is a community of faith, but the church is also an institution that is a community of concerned citizens who usually share the same or simular values and worldviews.

What people vote for or against is usually an extension of what they believe on a sacred level.

Therefore, I do not see anything wrong with like-minded people who happen to belong to the same institution discussing and exercising their right to vote for or endorse a particular candidate.

They promised to put party affiliation aside! They promised to be open to both sides of the issue. The Blue Dogs were supposed to be moderate middle of the road politicians. And already they are blaming the Repulicans for stalling a number of issues in the house and senate, in which they have control!

As a voter, or if you are someone who doesn't NOW vote, would you prefer a system of voting that would allow YOU to vote on individual topics?

For example, if you could go to a web portal and be informed by your rep in congress what bills are in committee, your reps vote and the rationale for it and then you can vote on that individually. It would give you the option to vote:

1. How your congressman would vote;
2. Always vote how Republicans vote on this topic;
3. Always vote how Democrats vote on this topic'
4. Vote my way (choices of "For" or "Against")

You can also weigh topics of level of importance.

This system would also report to users how many votes have been cast, what percentages are voting what and the scheduled time to vote will take on the floor.

And then your rep would have to vote how the plaurality of the district voted.

Would that be something you would like?

Why or why not?

Any other suggestions?

Thank you for your time,
Billy!
