Do poor families in red states (who earn a pathetic yearly income of less than $50,000 a year) regret voting for Bush yet ? or do they want to stick it to themselves again
in 2008 ?

wingshooer08: the fact that a U.S. soldier with a family of three makes only $21,000 a year is disgusting to me. And though, I'm pleased as punch that republicans keep voting to cut my federal taxes, I would much rather contribute more, if it meant our soldier's families weren't living near the poverty line. you need to ask yourself, who is really supporting the troops.

There is an awful lot of ignorance being thrown around with this question. George Bush may not be very popular with many people, but he is our President. He was elected by a majority of Americans. You could be living in a country where you have no choice. Not all Republicans or Democrats go on to be huge favorites. Maybe Bush was not elected so much for his popularity, but because the other choice was less popular.

As for the "RED" states and making less than $50k, that is super money for most people. Many would love to make close to that. Those who have made wise cracks about our guns don't have a clue about what you are talking about. Our guns are used for sport and we know how to use them. We don't give them to kids. We teach them to use and respect them. Our people don't take them to the streets and kill innocent people like many of your "BLUE" states.

Iraq has turned into a disaster. There once was a time when everyone seemed to be for it. Make up your mind. Our soldiers need your support. Iraq was defeated a long time ago. Now the terrorist are taking advantage of the situation to wage war on the US. If our soldiers were not risking and giving their lives in Iraq, the terrorist would be here killing civilians and your children. It doesn't matter how you feel, the terrorist will kill you just as dead. Granted, we do need a more proactive solutions to the entire Iraq thing. I don't have a solution, but criticizing our government will not work either. So do something about or shut up.

And from which "blue state" might you be from where $50,000 a year can't get you by? I would think it would be nice to be able to live a decent life on an income of 50k. It would also be nice if democrats didn't want to take nearly half of that 50k and give it to the people making 15k. There is a reason they are making that kind of money and it is not because the white man is holding them down. Taxing a man more for making a better person of himself and feeding and actually taking care of his family is ludicrous when that money is given to people who run out on their families and have six or seven kids.
Also there is a reason why people in the "red states" are happier in life and have less need for some dumb-*** psychologist or shrink to tell us what our problems are. We work hard which is satisfying. We usually take care of our families which is rewarding. And for God's sake we don't take everything the government says and does as if it is the end of the world. We understand that life actually happens outside the government and the govenrment is supposed to be for the people by the people and not to control the people.

So I'm guessing that few people regret voting for Bush because he certainly doesn't tax the hell out of us and make 50k a year a bad income. That is your "blue state" do everything for everyone and let no man make it on is own people who do that. Thanks and have a nice day.

Why would they regret voting for Bush? He cut their taxes too - because of him they have hardly any income taxes and it also makes economic sense for them to invest even if they can't save a whole lot, because the dividend tax rate is only 15% - if it were higher then it wouldn't be worthwhile for them to save and invest in blue chip stocks, which is where they should be investing.

And maybe, just maybe, they understand that because Bush cut everyone ELSE's taxes, that left more money in the economy, which is why orders for widgets went up, which is why the widget factory added a second shift, which is why they're low-income rather than unemployed.

And if they have a computer and internet, they can easily look up the fact that Treasury receipts have gone UP in the meantime because this additional economic activity is taxable.

Maybe, just maybe, people vote for their pocketbooks relative to what they used to be and relative to what they'd be with a less free economy rather than their pocketbooks relative to someone else's wealth which they won't have under either party....

It's sad but most likely true & if it's not they are BLINDLY supporting him =( I'm not well off but work hard and did not vote for bush & him not supporting anyone but the rich was one of the reasons I did not vote for him. Od course there are soooo many other reasons also, the environment and going against the wishes of the U.N. to name a couple!!!

Aggie girl the blue states do support our troops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so so tired of hearing that!!!!! It's ridiculous, I'm a liberal democrat & do not support the president what so ever!!!! But I admire, support & appreciate the troops more than anyone could imagine!!!

$50,000 a year is far from pathetic. The poor people in the south make less than $20.000 per year. Once you get into the 40,000 range, you are making enough to survive. It is pretty cheap to live in the south. I don't regret voting for Bush because I did not.

I don't think families in Red States don't regret voting for Bush at all. Frankly I find that some in the Blue states tend stereotype the red states. By the way their plenty of smart people in red states. And one more thing about the western red states: they don't like eastern libs at all. It goes back to the 1800s.

Less than $50,000 and you are poor???? Dude wake up! My son is an US Army Sgt. with a family of three and has spent two years in Iraq, and was glad to be there for us, supports Bush and only makes $21,000 a year. You want something to complain about, complain that we aren't paying ours soldiers enough! Write your congressman! Do something other than be a Bush hater!

Why? Because his programs and policies provide them with tax breaks and incentives to help themselves in the long run and achieve some pride rather than a quick-fix, pointless hand out that keeps them poor and a slave to the government?

Your rhetoric comes right out of the liberal playbook. Go ahead and stick it to yourself (vote for Hillary and open up your wallet...if you think that money is going to the poor, I've got some beachfront property in Nebraska for you...).

Give me a "thumbs down" if the TRUTH hurts...

Given our options of Dumb and Dumber in 2004, I voted Libertarian. Hopefully the options for 2008 will be better, though I'm not holding my breath.

Btw, in these red states, $50,000 is good money. I make half that and am living pretty decently.
