I'm especially interested in any answers making a case for the non-front runners like, say, Richardson or Hagel, etc.

Would you think it was extravagant for a presidential candidate to use a limo on the campaign trail?

For those of you who were naive enough to think that ANYTHING was ever going to be done for Iraq, its now coming out what the real plan is. In a direct sidestep of the constitution now non state visiting members of congress will have voting rights. all but one happen to be democrats....Heckuva coincidence...huh?

Scottish Parliament elections are coming up soon! This is the first time I'm voting, and I'd really appreciate some help.

My opinions don't correspond to any party line at all! They're left, right and centre!

I am (from "left" to "right"):
PRO immigration, especially for *skilled* migrants
PRO European Union
PRO NHS
PRO identity cards
PRO Anglo-Scottish Union
PRO greater police powers + harsher punishments
PRO selective state schools (grammar schools, 11+, etc.)

I am (from "left" to "right"):
AGAINST tougher immigration restrictions, though I do not mind action against immigrants who were illegal in the first place.
AGAINST privatisation of health care.
AGAINST Scottish separatism or further devolution.
AGAINST Islamist extremism.
AGAINST placement in comprehensive schools according to catchment area.
AGAINST House of Lords reform. Long live the Peers! Long live tradition!

So... help, please!! Whom should I vote for??

electorate and the ability to ensure fair and free elections democracy would be good for them. But what is to keep the Iraqis from voting to develop WMDs and bomb the US? Isn't this a war against terrorism? Being allowed to vote doesn't automatically make everybody good.

Can someone please explain to me how the electoral votes work? I am confused on how they are divided up after the popular votes are calculated.

For example, if there are 12,000,000 people in a state, and 4,000,000 people vote for one candidate, but 2,000,000 people vote for the other person, with the last 6,000,000 people not voting. I do not understand how you can calculate how many votes go towards each candidate.

If you could please help me figure this out, it would be greatly appreciated.
