I am definetly waiting for this to happen...this would a great opportunity to go on a different course and change something that this nation has never seen before. African Americans and Women have been minorties for many years and to see one emmerge as a leader of this nation would be something very exciting to witness.

How much of an advancement for African-America was the appointment of Condoleeza Rice? How much of a victory was it for feminism when Margaret Thatcher was elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom?

The most important consideration should be issues and positions. Currently, we have Hillary Clinton whose candidacy is being touted as a victory for feminists everywhere and Barack Obama, who is being hailed as the first potential black president.

But both Clinton and Obama have staunchly supported Bush's wars in the Middle East AND Bush's war on civil liberties at home. Sadly, both frontrunners represent not change, but an entrenchment of the status quo.

Let me reiterate that there is absolutely no chance that there will be be a black president in your lifteme. Unfortunately, whites comprise 76% of the population and there are some who simply refuse to vote for a black. Also take into account the fact that even some blacks feel that they are inferior. The black girl was given a white and black doll. Which one did she pick? Without a doubt there is a female commander in chief of the United States before a black becomes President, if ever.

I'm waiting for someone who is intelligent enough and strong enough and aware enough to become our next President.
If an African American, and/or a woman, or anybody with those qualifications should apply, I'll hope it will mark a change for the better for us and the world.

You are opening a door to a question that is so far out in left field, you have to stand back and think what you are asking, it's almost along the line of having an openly gay figure in office what would happen (I'm thinking along the line of Brutes in the Roman Senate).

Good question... I think that diversity is important. The only thing we will have to deal with is all the seemingly bright people who actually play on any issue that does not fit their political, religious and personal ideologies and incite those that are not informed enough to make a decision that is more than ten percent factual.

I think it would be wonderful to break down all barriers at once by having an African-American female president...that way no one will analyze and say things like "Well women are more important than African Americans in our society", which isn't what it actually meant.
