We have a duty as Citizens to tell our public servants what we expect of them.

Voting alone is not the whole picture. It is important to do your own research so that you can be a fully informed voter.

On my college campus in 2004, the Left put up posters saying, "Vote Your Feelings". That is so WRONG. That is how sheep vote - with their feelings - and why they are so easily herded.

Voting is the essence of democracy. In the most recent elections, only 36% of the electorate bothered to vote. The winning party gained control of the last branch of government that was not in their control – the legislative. The judicial branch was already conservative, and the executive – after a most contentious election – fell to the GOP despite the fact that George W Bush received less votes then Al Gore. With this more-than-dubious popular sanction and legitimacy, the GOP is instituting legislation that will severely affect the way our children and we will live in the future while embarking on a road to military interventionism that threatens our present. NOT to vote in the face of these circumstances is an abdication. Abstention is, at worst an admission of not caring about your own present and future – and ultimately the surrendering of your right to influence how your society should be.

I believe that it is important to vote for the reason that it is what helps seperate our countries from others and in many ways seems to be our duty as citizens. It also gives us a forum to show our admiration or disgust with the current administration's actions. As we have seen in the past few national elections one vote really can make a difference, and with more and more initiatives showing up on ballets it allows us to have a greater role in the path our town, state, and nation follow.

Look to the words of Americans long gone for your answer. It is humbling to think of all the good people who have struggled in life and death to bring us to where we are today.

"We in America do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate." -- Thomas Jefferson

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." -- Benjamin Franklin

"It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced." -- Abraham Lincoln

I think it's important for uninformed and ignorant voters not to vote. It's important to vote if you know what you're doing. If you've ever voted for someone because you "hate the other guy because he is evil" or haven't voted for someone because "the other guy really opened my eyes about him through campaign ads", you don't qualify.

To defeat the liberals. The cultural left has routinely affirmed the most vicious prejudices about American foreign policy held by radical factions in the Muslim world - and then emboldened those factions to attack us with the firm conviction that "America deserves it"

If you don't vote, then you are not fulfilling your duty as a citizen of the USA. People would die, and have died for that right, and you have no right to criticize the government if you don't help pick it.

Partly Because people in other countries cant. Its kinda like whan your mom told you starving kids in China would love to eat your supper. People sacrificed their lives for the right.

It is your government. You must take care of it, no one else. If you want someone else to chose, don't complain and move to a communist government.
