How likely are veterans to experience cognitive dissonance with regard to their role in a war that they might normally consider (and most others DO consider) unnecessary, baseless or otherwise unjust?

You might think this is a commentary on the Iraq war. I won't deny that the Iraq war inspired it, but that's not what I'm asking about in particular. I think it could apply in general.

I'm especially interested in what people know about veterans of armies whom we all KNOW were in the wrong. Like Nazi troops.

What portion of Nazi veterans still feel like the war they were drafted into was right, just because they had a part in it?

Since one of the platforms of the Democrats is sticking up for the middle class, how is raising the minimum wage going to help?

If anything, it will make the lower class richer and put them into the middle class, making only lower class and upper class. What then?

Redistribute the wealth of the upper class to give to the lower class, and make everybody a single class? Isn't that communism?

I have a wife of 2 years who is okay with me doing so. Her father is in the military and he says that it would be a great experience for us both. The only thing that is making the decision hard is that I have a 14 month old daughter that I love to play with. Alot of people are telling me that it would be great for my family. I also have people telling me that it's not worth it in case I get sent overseas. I'm not sure of what I want to do, so I need to know what you all think. All opinions are greatly appreciated and welcome. Thank you to all who respond and God Bless.

Hillary Clinton Visits School Children
Hillary Clinton goes to a primary school in New York to talk about the world. After her talk she offers question time. One little boy puts up his hand. The Senator asks him what his name is.
"Kenneth.""And what is your question, Kenneth?""I have three questions: First - whatever happened to your medical health care plan? Second - why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office? And, Third - whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House?"Just then the bell rings for recess. Hillary Clinton informs the kiddies that they will continue after recess. When they resume Hillary says, "Okay where were we? Oh, that's right, question time. Who has a question?"A different little boy puts his hand up; Hillary points him out and asks him what his name is.
"Larry.""And what is your question, Larry?""I have five questions: First - whatever happened to your medical health care plan? Second - why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office? Third - whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House? Fourth - why did the recess bell go off 20 minutes early? And, Fifth - what happened to Kenneth?

Many people assume that marijuana was made illegal through some kind of process involving scientific, medical, and government hearings; that it was to protect the citizens from what was determined to be a dangerous drug.

The actual story shows a much different picture. Those who voted on the legal fate of this plant never had the facts, but were dependent on information supplied by those who had a specific agenda to deceive lawmakers. You'll see below that the very first federal vote to prohibit marijuana was based entirely on a documented lie on the floor of the Senate.

You'll also see that the history of marijuana's criminalization is filled with:

Racism
Fear
Protection of Corporate Profits
Yellow Journalism
Ignorant, Incompetent, and/or Corrupt Legislators
Personal Career Advancement and Greed
These are the actual reasons marijuana is illegal.

My neighbor is a German-born American. He's a good man, and we've always been very close friends. Recently, I found out that he was a Nazi war criminal during WWII, and now I don't know what to do: Fulfill my patriotic duty and report him, thus losing someone close to me, or do I keep silent and take comfort in my knowledge that he's not the man he was back then?

Please, not looking for judgments or opinions, just answer if you really know what you're talking about.

Thanks.

With at least 2 wars in progress, and other covert actions we may not even know about, perhaps hundreds of thouands of deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan, hundreds of billions of dollars added to our already incredible national debt, the destruction of many of our most cherished Constitutional rights, a still unguarded border with Mexico with a wall that will never be built, and a plan to merge American sovereignty with Mexico and Canada in the North American Union, who would support all of this (and more) and why would they do it?
