Why haven't we passed a constitutional balanced budget amendment yet? What reasons are there for not passing one?

It makes an interesting comparison to the recent bombing in Beirut. Were the Germans given a week's advance warning with leaflets being dropped advising them to vacate the area? Were targets in Dresden limited to military locations?

“They want combat deaths. They want to be able to gin up anti-war support.” Dems regret the fact that so many injured troops are being saved.

Some people will say, it's okay because it saves lives. I say to those people, it's not okay. Will you still feel the same way when you have to get a permit to have sex? Will you still feel the same way when you must wear a helmet and bullet proof vest at all times since that too saves lives. Will it be okay when all your conversations are monitored? Will it be okay when all areas of your life are recorded since of course that could solve many crimes and save many lives. Maybe Americans today want the country to take this route. I'm old school, I still believe as our fore fathers believed. I believe in freedom and don't want to lose it no matter the cost. Hey, you must now ride public transportation to go where you want to go for 10 percent of your income, it's for your own good. You are more likely to live longer this way. That's what the future holds for people who think it's okay for the government to enforce seat belt laws.

We spend massive amounts of money trying to stop the importation of ilegal drugs. None of this would be needed if the American people did not desire them. You know who you are. So you light up a joint, snort a line. It is not the drug dealers causing the problem. It is the drug USERS. You. I am not in favor of drug laws. But untill you, the ilegal drug users, take a stand and force a change, I have nothing but contempt for you.

You are doing this on your own. The medical system has failed in its duty of care of an older person. You are told, "it is just the system". Do you put up a fight or just accept and move on. You really are on your own with this one.

What I mean is the people of the working poor, no matter the circumstance are always tied to the goverment. The rich make the rules and the poor have to live by them even though it isn't working. This in effect makes them slaves to the government. They are also slaves to captalism. Shouldn't the rich help pay for the country that helped them get rich and the poor pay nothing? I guess I do not understand the right wing phylosphy. Maybe somebody could enlighten me as to why it is not working.

almost everyday we hear about pakistani terrorists in one way or the other. latest incident is this one: pakistan-born faheem khalid lodhi had planned to detonate bombs in australia's city sydney as a part of a "holy war". new south wales supreme court has sentenced this pakistani national for 20 yrs. of jail.
aren't such incidents enough 2 declare pakistan as terror state? UN and international community should think abt this.
there r many other terrorist activities associated with pakistan:
al-qaida n laden is in pakistan, london bomb blast r linked with pak, madrid bomb blast hav pak links, recently 19 terrorists were arrested in london who were trying a similar serial bomb attack as the last one (18 of them were pakistanis),WTC terrorists hav pak links, attack on indian parliament was done by pakistani terrorists, terrorism in kashmir and india is due 2 pakistan only.
all pakistani claims abt support 2 "war against terror" r fake. musharraf is misleading international community

Problems such as crime for example may never be able to solved completely within one persons lifetime. At least not until technology has enabled us to live for many hundreds of years. However, problems such as these are more likely to be solved with a major long term plan that may take a thousand years or longer to complete. In fact, it may be the only way to completely solve moral crime while still affording freedom to the citizens. We only seem to approach the majority of our species problems in relevance to the lifespans of people currently alive, shouldn't we approach problems in relevance to the life span of our entire species?
