We spend massive amounts of money trying to stop the importation of ilegal drugs. None of this would be needed if the American people did not desire them. You know who you are. So you light up a joint, snort a line. It is not the drug dealers causing the problem. It is the drug USERS. You. I am not in favor of drug laws. But untill you, the ilegal drug users, take a stand and force a change, I have nothing but contempt for you.

I think "hunter" is a good example of the problem.

Where ever there is a demand, there will be a supply, that is the truth! The mild drug users would just be stoned, the heavy drug users would die off in a generation. Let's make them legal!

When the US prohibited Alcohol the action created people like Al Capone. This prohibition is creating people who make AL Capone and his gang look like boy scouts

It is a circle that never ends, people want drugs so the drug dealer give it to them. IF dealers didn't bring them in then there is none to buy. If we didn't have druggies then no need for the dealers. This world is being destroyed by drugs so even the joint users that think it is okay need to rethink their opinion and realize that it is still against the law for a reason just like other things are and if they think they are a law abiding citizen and still light up then they are just as bad as the cocaine and meth addicts. I have a daughter who is in the pen now for drugs and her 3 children havent had a Mother there whole life and it started with lighting a joint. Drugs don't just hurt the people who take them, they hurt everyone around them. I am just saying this because of the answers above from the people who want to legalize mj. It would start a drug craze that couldn't be stopped if you didnt have to hid it anymore.

Well, that is the tough question that needs serious and longer time in planning. I agree with you that the users are the main persons responsible for the proliferation of drugs. However, there are other things to consider in this war.

First off, harsh drug laws have not been able to solve nor punish the true offenders or the big fishes out there luring everyone and their pockets. The government has failed in doing so (and might have profited in this too!).

The users should not be sent to prison, but be rehabilitated towards getting their normal lives back independent of drugs. Give them jobs, and other things to do after they have been rinsed off squeaky clean on drugs. Little by little, at least this would help in minimizing the number of users.

People who have not been aware of this abuse (especially the youth) should be informed more forcefully. It is better to have prevention than cure, right? So the kids need to know (with everyone around them) the dangers of drugs to oneself.

Illegal drug users aren't going to take a stand to stop the drugs. That's a laugh. They love the drugs and are addicted to them.

Put the dealers out of business. Find the sources and eliminate it at the git go. Then the users will have to stop.'

Well, I believe its a mixture of both. If the users had no where to get it from, they would'nt have a problem in the first place. You can't jail someone for having a problem, they need help- drug dealers are taking advantage of people's problems. I think you are misguided.

The war on drugs is as useless as Prohibition during the 20's. It just funnels money into the hands of criminals and creates corruption.

I think drugs should be legalized and taxed like alcohol and tobacco. If people are stupid enough to bake their brains, at least maybe the rest of us can get some potholes fixed or an extra fireman hired.

That's bullshit. Most drug users take them because they are available. I grow my own pot because I don't want to have to deal with organized crime. And my poppy field is coming along as well. Trouble is, every time I try to set up a meth lab it gets shut down. The authorities don't understand that I'm just trying to satisfy my own needs.

You're right. I say anybody caught with a positive drug result should be shot. They'd only have to do that a couple dozen times and people would stop.
