Polls say that most Americans don't think things are going well in Iraq. In a CNN survey released on Friday, 36 percent approved of Bush's management of the war and 62 percent disapproved of the war.
More than 2,588 U.S. troops have died in a conflict that has cost more than $300 billion since the March, 2003, U.S.-led invasion. Because of the sectarian violence, the Pentagon is boosting U.S. forces in Baghdad by about 5,000 and earlier hopes for a big troop cut in coming months have faded. As most people in the military now know the war is not as easy as some believed 3 years ago. Many fear this will end up like another Vietnam and it now looks as if it is going that way. It looks like the Republicans will go down in defeat this Nov.
