On NPR's program the World on Oct 3 there was something said about a guy who said that the black Africans were not responsible for the apartite in South Africa, the minority government was. And the Iraqis are not responsible for the genocide of Sadam Hussein because he was a tyrannical dictator. But he said that Americans are responsible for the actions of George Bush because we have an "open democratic society". I'm trying to find out who was stupid enough to say such a thing (mostly because America is NOT a democratic society (ruled by the people)...it is a republic society (ruled by representatives) The idea that some yahoo is blaming me for what Bush does is just infuriating.
I know NPR will let you listen to the programs but it wont play on my computer (for reasons beyond my understanding) It was broadcast during the listener comments portion...so I'm not sure if it was a listener’s comment or a listener responding to what someone else said.

During the past 2 weeks alone, 4 similar incidents ocurred in different schools. Is the media partially to blame for spotlighting these events? Is it possible that by making these into such high-profile incidents, potential criminals are being exposed to new outlets for their behaviours?

I realize the media is simply doing its job, by informing, yet I can't help but think how much is too much? To make matters worse, I'm finding increasingly that many of the reporting have become quite "subjective" as opposed to being "objective"; the way that it ought to be.

Please share your views, and bear in mind that there is no right or wrong answer to this. Thank you.

always make sure the rich and wealthy get all the good reports, and the normal people get all the bad ones? If a celebrity was to die, for instance, they would get praised. If a normal person was to die, they would get ignored unless it was a murder case, which then they would become famous anyway.

I was just researching, and I found that I can EDIT the articles! Anyone can! How can we ever trust wikipedia, when anyone can change the words to mean something entirely different??? Is anything on the site written by credible and accurate journalists or historians?

My heart goes to the families of those kids, all little girls that have been shot by another demented man. I believe the media covers of such events on the news, time after time, after time again does trigger some kind of evil thoughts in certain people and being filled with hate already, it gives them the idea to get rid of what their twisted mind perceive as potential revenge against what has been done to them sometimes way back when they were children. It is all right to cover the news, but is it the right thing to do to show repeatedly what has happened and how ?

Doesn't it seem strange that one occurs, the media publizes the heck of it, and several others? One of the last ones that occured in Cazenovia, WI is a town that my father is from, he and his brothers and I had all attended Weston. Shocking.
