Studies have shown that people who read newspapers also read the ads. The same cannot be said about radio or tv--people tend to tune out the ads, if not mute them altogether.

Advertisers like to know their ads are getting noticed. That's a huge advantage. It brings in a ton of money, which then can be spent on producing a quality product--like a fine newspaper.

Radio would have the advantage of getting the news out first over newspapers.

According to those who work in and/or teach journalism radio has the advantage of being the 'first' to break a news story. Next in line is television, third is newspapers followed by magazines.

If you consider the race of breaking the story as an advantage then radio. But, if you consider the advantage is an analytical content then it would be magazines.

I think the newspaper, because you can find a lot more info about what you can hear in the redio and more, and the news paper is more relaileble becasue you dont need to be ready at the time the radio is going to release the news , with the newspaper you reed it whenever you have the time to do so.

both are good (oops, i thought you meant for advertising)

Radio gets to commuters in their cars if aired during peak hour traffic

Newspapers carry more details that can be missed by radio listeners

If you can make your phone number or web address catchy enough for radio listeners to remember, that is a big advantage. Like, change the cost of the advertised item. This is only $14.75
Yep 14 75. and all you have to do is call 555 14 75 for a $14.75 widget.

The immediacy of radio trumps newspaper.
The in-depth coverage of print trumps airwaves.

A MAJOR plus for print:
a newspaper reader is more likely to spend time learning about the issues and coming to some intelligent conclusion, while radio listeners have a shorter attention span and are more prone to make knee-jerk decisions based on limited facts.

Radio...for sure. If you get bored or busy, the information keeps on coming into your brain. If you get bored with a paper, you lay it down and end the information flow. You should listen to talk radio sometime and see what I mean. You seem to retain most of the spoken word more than you do the written word (in this case.)

I don't mean to sound too partisan here, but that is why liberals hate conservative talk radio. It connects with people and in turn, they connect with it.
